CCC drive swap Question

Ok so long story short my CCC drive just took a toll on me. The knob spins freely, I get no audio at all, and the best part is that the idrive does not even turn on anymore. I had to disconnect the amp because it was draining my battery :/ .

SO my question is, I'm in the works of shopping for a used CCC drive and wanted to know if I can swap from an 07 335i e92 CCC(the broken) to a used 2008 335i e90 CCC(Used). I know coding will be involved. But I wanted to know if it was possible. Both CCC drive has different faceplates but the back looks identical(connectors etc) Thanks!!!

perhaps you should see the idrive and coding sub forums.
I would compare part no's to make sure they are both ccc.

Coding might be easier than you think . If you are lucky you
can default code from the VO or if your real lucky the donor
car has identical options.

The donor one is a post 03/07 CCC which is the best CCC version. You will need a new $25 trim piece around the new CCC.

Keep in mind if you are paying more than $150 for a CCC you are paying way too much.

All you need to do is under the factory code profile run sg_codieren the four CCC modules and then manually reboot the CCC.

Why not just do the upgrade to CiC while you're getting into the console?

Most of my CIC kits go to people with broken CCC units. But you can easily DIY a CCC for $100 - $200 vs a $700 CIC kit.

Or just $550 if you buy mine haha, I was going to do the swap myself but then overpaid to overhaul my entire rear suspension

Hi all, I just wanted to ask jyjimenez3 what kind of problems did you run into installing the unit other then just needing a new face plate also if its not too much to ask can you do a step by step on the coding part? much appreciated.

I just did this swap and am having some troubles with the button operation. I replaced a CCC unit from an 07 (no pre-set buttons) with a newer unit which has the 6 preset buttons. When I first installed the new unit the buttons seemed to function, but there was no sound. I then coded the new unit using NCSExpert (modules CAPPL, CAUDI, CGATE, CHOST, CTUNE) as described in many places on various forums, and the sound works! The preset buttons no longer work though. Is there another module which requires coding for these buttons to function?

Try coding a 03/07 build date.

Hey jbash,

Mind sending a pic of your coding setup? I have the same issue where I just swapped an old CCC to a newer version CCC and no sound (also no bluetooth? and no voice commands?) but I need to code it, apparently. I bought this iCar Pro which is pretty cool, but I need a good app that would work with it. BimmerCode doesn't work for pre-2008 E90's.

there is a 3/07 cut off date for K/D can cable programing of
Most Bus Modules. You need and Icom after that.
Maybe Nicko found away around that.

Figured i would post here because I had the same problem and figured it out.

In NCS Expert youll want to do the standard VIN/ZCS/FA (F1), ZCS/FA f. ECU (F3) (read from CAS), then Enter FA (F2), choose E89, click ok when vin pops up, then the top value (mine is #0305) needs to be deleted, then in the attribute window enter #0307 and click add.

This will update your FA and you should see #0307 at the top of the list, click ok.

you should then see on the main menu Chassis: E90 (E89), FG *insert your vin here*, and FA E90_#0307 followed by the rest of the crap.

Then go back and code the CAPPL, CAUDI, CGATE, CHOST, and CTUNE with that FA.

If i get a chance ill try to upload some pictures because i know all text sucks.

Also a thanks to everyone here. Very to have the 2nd Gen CCC in the car. I havent had a radio in months. I missed my Logic 7 badly
