I have an '07 e92 335i with manual tranny. I believe it had a software update back in '07. I have a small glitch on the radio where it sometimes loses the check mark next to the preset station I am on. They said they would do a full software update to fix it? I was hesitant due to lag issues, but what should I do now? Don't want to risk having problems?
Also, will the new software prevent me from tuning in the future if I decide to? Right now I have done nothing to it and don't plan on it, but you never know.

Go to a dealer and have your key fob read. If you have a 3 series, there should be something on a piece of paper that shows E89X-09-##-##

Then go to this page and print out the PDF.

http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/...p/B090707g.htm

Then mix and match.

I have to say...yes...I will prob go with the new m3 when is comes out, but after all has said and done, my car right now absolutely rips. It is fun to drive again, has that nasty growl, every one I take a ride in it (except my kids) gives me that look that says "Your crazy" It only took BMW a year and a half to get it right. (and 4 yes 4 HPFP's) I am thrilled of a new owner at the dealer. I am a BMW guy in and out, have been since 1972 when my dad bought a R75/5 bike and a 2002 tii. I have owned dozens of BMW's since. I'm German too!!

Not sure which version I have now

I took my car in and the paper only states that it was referred to SIB 11 13 07
I just wrote the SA that I need to know which version of the software I ended up with-so hopefully tomorrow I'll know
My car is 04/07 build date-originally I took the car in for ABS lamp that came on and they did an oil change/interval service-after I asked about wastegate noise there was a gasket replaced(that's what the work order said)but yesterday I took the car back to make sure I have the latest software

If I have a newer version of the software will my idrive colors look different too? They look the same to me. Somewhere I read that there is a way to access info though the idrive?

Thanks

Even considering there's been some discussions about O2 sims not working on v4+latest software, etc.? Or has that been more or less resolved?

Quick one for you, since i am a newb

Without reading 200 odd pages,
I had the wastegate rattle problem, which upgrades were supposed to fix, but only made it more laggy
should version v36.5 or newer get rid of the rattle, and the lag?

Thanks

No, sorry. They depend on the fitted turbos, as far as I know. Most of the repair cost is installation, anyway.

Is there any way of being able to find the correct part number?,as my warranty just ran out so I'd need to fit them myself
Also is there any way to tell the new actuator for the old?

As far as I know, one can see the difference by measuring the thickness (new ones are thicker). However, the part numbers for the actuators (as we know, there are several types) are not in the ETK. In there, you'll find only the part numbers for the whole turbos including wastegates and actuators. As this type of repair is discouraged by the latest SIB, it will be hard to find out. You'll have to ask your dealer.
