'08 335xi From 19" staggered to 17" staggered?
I know tire size has been beaten to death, but haven't seen anything on this.
The car came with 19" RFT. 225/40/19 front and 255/35/19 rear. I replaced them with non-RF. Still far too stiff for our roads with potholes. I drive in fear of the explosion. I read advice that says go to stock 225/40/18 all around. But as far as I can tell, I won't gain any actual sidewall, so no more comfort. So I'm looking at stock 17". 225/45/17. I'll gain 1/2" of sidewall. Wondering if there's any reason I can't go 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear? I like the wider look in the rear tires. Would prefer to go to 18s with larger sidewall, if anyone has size suggestions. TIA |

You can go that route but consider this. The 17" wheels with 225/45-17 is the stock size for lots of BMW 3 series models and it may be the easiest and cheapest combo to find locally and on the web. You can buy these economically and they are readily available. Just take a look at the new tire prices and you will see there is alot of choice and great prices in that size.
