Just saw the damage, not as bad as I thought but those are deep scratches though. They also kinda look like scratches, one would get from a parking mishap with a painted concrete pillar. The white paint stuck on the scratches are decidedly chalky and the scratches looked to be inflicted evenly. On the white paint, she did recall a white construction pickup truck parked in front of her.

So I put my wife on trial but she insisted that it was as she mentioned, a parking lot hit-and-run mishap. She's still not talking to me

Anyways, what do you guys think? Any advice (on the car that is)?

Btw called the insurance co and they will put it under uninsured driver accident, appraisal's this Saturday. Called around and located a bodyshop recommended by Arlington BMW.

Mmmm... you better go make peace with the wife.

See! that was my other reason to get manual tranny.
the wife cannot drive stick shift. hehe.
I'm the only one qualified to drive the bimmer in my house.

An excellent reason to buy a stick... Only a few people I know can actually drive stick, so most dont even bother. I have no wife, or gf for that matter, so Im the only one who drives my car.

Donny, my condolences about Ralf. While I would be out for blood, you are much more calm and collected than I am... Unforunately, there are plenty of inconsiderate people around, and this stuff happens. Not the end of the world, but Im sure Ralf will appreciate the new paint...

Had the auto vs MT discussion before...it came down to this 6AT non-ZSP or 6MT ZSP (I had a budget). A many a heated discussions later I arrived...voila...at my current spec What can you say, huh? I really wanted her to learn but none of our MT driving friends volunteered, so I caved in. Sad thing is 1 month after the car, she said that we should've gone with the MT as she decided it definitely looks more fun...WTF !

AJ, thanks for the kind words

Well...at the end of the day its just a car, that's what insurance is for. Hope they do a good job, I mean SG should be quite hard to match properly. It just won't be the same ever, its not how it came from the factory

Hey, if they scrap the whole bumper (unlikely, though) maybe I can get an M-tech front bumper How much do they go for??

Mtech fronts... there are people trying to sell them that are getting the full kit and dont want the front... I know a few of them were SG...

Your right... a car is just a car... Even if in a serious accident (prays it happens to no one), as long as you are ok, the hunk of metal can be replaced...

I got that issue, I breezed through the article on the camaro convertible...you only have so much time on the throne y'know

I was interested to know that the camaro will have an IRS and is running off an Australian platform...looks like a far departure from the antiquated F-bodies of the past

Btw the Ferrari 599 GTB is officially my dream car

I think i maybe reading the article wrong, but It states that the convertible will come out months after the coupe goes on sale in 2006. Is that a typo, because I didnt think that the camaro was coming out anytime soon?

well clearly I missed a lot of chatting tonight. I have one comment to make.

How come men assume women cannot drive a stick? My E90 is manual and I wouldn't even consider it any other way.

I don't. A lot of guys can't drive stick. The ratio of the minority of men that can nowadays is a lot greater than the ratio of women who can (in the US).

In Europe, I don't think anyone assumes.

I remember in Korea, until a couple of years ago, you could only take the test with a stick car.

I wasn't assuming, my wife really can't drive stick A good friend of ours, she prefers MT exclusively. She can shift, be on the cell phone (without handsfree) and drink coffee at the same time going 60+mph...I kid you not, highly skilled

That's not skilled, that's being stupid.

Not a lot of shifting to be done at 60+ anyway.
