windows 7 and serial usb cable
If you are having troubles getting a serial USB cable to work with your Windows7 operating system and your Procede or other device, look no further!
My issue: Procede not able to "go online/offline". I was having this issue while trying to install my used Procede and update the firmware/maps as I didn't know what the previous owner had installed on the Procede unit. I would connect the serial USB to the Procede and plug it into my laptop, set the comm port ID, click "go online/offline" and NOTHING! Grrrr... My fix: I first followed the advice in THIS thread. Then I ditched the cable the previous owner had sent me, and I bought this guy right here! Once I got this cable, I uploaded the PL-2303 USB serial Driver for the Windows7 OS. If you have a cable already, you can try downloading the driver from HERE. If you purchase the cable I mentioned, it will come with a disc that has the driver on it. DISCLAIMER: I can personally guarantee that the cable with work with your computer if you are running the Windows7 Home 64bit OS, as that is what I am running. However, you'll want to either make sure you have a USB extender cable, as that serial-USB cable is only 1' long, or you'll want to see if they make the same adapter but with a longer cable. Also, I have no affiliation with any company or website referenced above. In fact, I'm still in college and barely work! Haha. Finally, I hope this helps any of you forum members that have encountered any of the same issues I did while trying to get my Procede up and running! Have fun and happy tuning!!! edit: I want to add that I do not blame the original owner of my Procede for sending me a cable that did not work for ME. I wholly trust that the cable he sent me works for older operating systems and maintain the +1 feedback I left for him. to a good seller! |

I have a 6' version of this cable, but still use a USB cable extender so that I can place my laptop anywhere I want. I also run Windows 7 64 bit.
