FCobra94,

It really is my pleasure--the reports are a lot of fun to research and write up, and I'm always glad to see that fellow BMW owners enjoy them!

Scotty,

Thanks! It helps a lot to have such a scenic and historically interesting place to write about. I can understand why so many entire books have been written about the Pine Barrens.

It also helps a lot to have such a capable and fun car to use in chasing down historical mysteries, finding practically unknown places, and--of course--for getting from one destination to another as quickly as possible!

Rick

PS: I really could have used your dirt bike to get to a couple of the more remote spots, via the washed out sandy roads.

Thanks Rick

Yet another reason to change my name. Lynch. scoundrel.

Your 335 serves you well. I miss ours. liked it far better than our 2003 M3/SMG/Dinan 3

I had no idea that this area exists. Thanks for opening my eyes

We have started our top-down drives. Sony a6000 camera is with me all the time

However, no one is there to share history as you do for us here.

Thanks so much

Dave,

Ha ha--good point! Of course, Joe Mulliner was officially hanged, not lynched, and there is an important distinction. The former is a punishment ordered with statutory authority and a court proceeding, while the latter is conducted (generally) by a mob and without a trial.

The term "lynching" is believed to have originated with the "Lynch Law," which retroactively authorized a local Virginia judge named Charles Lynch to impose punishments on British sympathizers during the American Revolution. Given that (i) you have the same last name as Charles Lynch, and (ii) you lived for a time in Virginia, we can probably safely assume that he is one of your ancestors!

Rick

PS: I'm glad that the Canadian winter has subsided enough to allow the top to go down on your 911!

Perhaps!
my family trees first Lynch reference is dated 1915.

My Father didn't talk much

My reference was to Mr Lynch, the carpenter, who you referred to in your tale.

I hope he's not a relative. He didn't live long

Dave

ps. 911 still has snowtires on. you never know....

Dave,

Oh, now I get it--you were referring to John Lynch, who jilted his fiancé, was on the receiving end of a curse, and died almost immediately! I suspect you're not related to him (but you never know…)

To be on the safe side, be sure not to jilt anyone--especially your wife!

Delta,

Thanks--it certainly was an interesting trip! I'm working on Part II now, which was also great fun. However, I'm afraid that BMW may insist on taking my car back after they see the roads that I drove on!

Great write up! I grew up in Medford and my parents still live there. They also have a house on long beach island and my family has a ton of history there. One of my family members in my family tree went to that school house on Tuckers Island, before it was washed away obviously.

Those roads in Chatsworth are fun to drive fast on...i drive the M on them frequently...

Nice pics and a well done article!!

Thanks again Rick. Jersey boy myself so I found it extra interesting. Read it cover to cover and enjoyed it all. I love taking these trips with you... And I don't even have to get my BMW dirty.
