Im half way thru my installation, for some reason im having a really hard time getting that black clip that suppose to go into the ultrasonic module out of its holder. It seems that I can get either side out really really easily, but they don't want to come out together.
any1 else had this problem? any ideas?

Installed. Thanks for the pointers.

The hardest part was getting the interior lamp piece off for the ultrasonic module. Once you figure out how the clip holds it in place it's a breeze. It doesn't pry off, you just have to push it at the right spot.

I managed to get the siren in without removing the wheel. If you lift the car high enough (the front left wheel was just starting to come off the ground, using a small shop jack) you'll have PLENTY of room to work with. I only popped off 2 screws for the wheel-well cover and then pulled it off from there (it's flexible).

The alarm seems to be working without dealer activation. I do have the latest software already so I'm sure that helped.

The interior motion sensor does not work right now, as per this bulletin: http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/...p/B650405g.htm. I'll be heading into the dealer tomorrow to get that taken care of

**EDIT** The alarm only goes off when a door is opened. The hood switch was working at first too but I have not been able to set off the alarm via hood switch since for some reason. Tilt sensor does not work (was able to jack up the car far higher than necessary to steal a rim), motion sensor does not yet work (we'll see if anything changes after it's installed). When the alarm is going off, the ultrasonic module does not do anything and I have not seen anything flash except for the hazard lights. Holding the trunk release for over 2 seconds does not set off the alarm. Looks like I'll have to dish out the money for that activation I don't think the clown-nose was flashing before the kit was installed so that tells me the computer acknowledges the parts are there. Perhaps with the motion sensor installed everything will work?

Thanks for the tutorial!!! Easy install but it took me forever to figure out which 'cap' on the connector I needed to remove. It's actually the connector that's hooked up to the car, not the one included with the alarm parts.

I also didn't remove the wheels, just jacked up the car. Had a hard time screwing on the whole siren with the large plate since I couldn't see the hole to line up the screw. Plus I didn't have the right tool. Took me 3 hrs. LOL! But it's done. Time to get it activated.

Hello, Im new here at the forum. got myself a '07 E92 335i a few months ago, love the car, just need an alarm. Now, my car is not pre-wired, already looked at the instructions, lot of work, but do-able, especially because BMW charge €1600 to do the job.
Big issue is that the interior roof liner(is that the correct word for that?) needs replacement, because my car only has the interior light, not the preparation for the ultrasonic module. And replacing the whole liner is expensive.
Now, is it possible to cut my original liner so that the module and the plastic cover fit??

Look at the instructions for the oem alarm install. If you have the wiring it tells you to locate then it's prewired.

A couple of dealerships I called want $475 and $300 to activate the software. They claim that they have to remove the alarm and then program the car and then reinstall it. Is this true?

That's crazy. It's more than the alarm itself. I ended up paying $120 which I consider way too much for something that probably takes 10 minutes to program. However the dealer that I went to would only charge for labor in one-hour increments hence the price. Ideally you should try to find a dealer that will charge 1/2-hour of labor for the activation which would be more reasonable.

There is only one other dealer near my area. I'll call them tomorrow - hopefully they'll give me a good price. If not, I'll just have to live with the missing features.

So I've been reading through this and I still have a couple of questions regarding this alarm install on an E93?

1) Since there are no ultrasonic sensors for an E93, is there at least a glass break sensor?
2) Does triggering the alarm do anything else besides sounding the siren and flashing the lights (such as disabling the fuel pump or ignition like some aftermarkets do)?

If the answer to both questions is no, then all the alarm adds besides the clown nose is the hood switch, the tilt switch and the siren?

Got it all installed without the pics! took me awhile to figure it out myself but all was good. (I like how everything fit so snug in it's place )

-seems like my ultrasonic module ISN'T working. tried waiting more than 2 mins and waved and reached in with no success.

but for some odd reason one time when i was leaning on the passenger side with my arms inside trying to figure out why its not going off. It went off.

NEVER did it go off again (1 out of 10+ attempts).

FAILED

-Clown nose blinks right when I put in the last piece and lock the doors. CHECK

-Unlocking central locking and unlocking my door from inside makes the alarm go bezerk! CHECK

-Hood trigger did not try but dont see the point in that when they have to get in my car to pop the hood. (ultrasonic module should pick it up) NEUTRAL

-No acoustic confirmation and PANIC feature of any sort. Need to get the update for that from dealer. FAILED

hopefully i can get it free somehow since im due for 30k service.
what's the cheapest in the Bay Area?

Just got my alarm activated at the dealer today... Initially, I made a deal with them to package the oil change service ($123) with an extra 1/2 hour labour ($63) to activate the alarm. Then they called me a few hours later and said they had to upgrade the software and couldn't do it for the 1/2 hour labour charge. DOH!

I told them on the installation instruction there was a code that they can bill the software upgrade against so that BMW corporate picks it up. They said that's only to be used if they install the alarm. Doesn't work when the customer installs it himself. (BS!)

So end of the day, they agreed to charge me for the oil change ($124) and 1 full-hour of labour ($126) - instead of the 1.5 hours they wanted initially - if I gave them a perfect score on their customer sat survey.

Do you guys think I did okay? Did I over pay? or did I get a good deal?

1 hour labor for alarm activation is ok, but you got bamduzzled on the oil change. So you are like even to slight over pay.

Initially my sa was willing to charge me 1/2 hr labor for just enabling the audible chirp. But he notified me that since it wasn't installed at any dealer, I needed to get it coded and that's 1 1/2 hrs labor. For a total of $150.00. He gave me a tire install discount price.

What do you guys think?
