What does the dealer charge for an N55 powered 335xi oil change?
I just paid around $145 for an oil/filter change at a highly recommended Indy mechanic. Seems comparable to what a dealer would charge. The Indy said they use a full synthetic with a better additive package than the oil the dealer would use. Just want to get a bead on whether or not this is in fact better than the dealer. Dealer is a whole lot more convenient than the Indy.

I saw a coupon in the mail for my local dealer that was around $100. That's why I was surprised by the price at the Indy. I could care less what oil is in the car so long as it meets BMWs specifications. Guess I won't be going back to the Indy for oil changes. Has me wondering though just how much cheaper any other repairs might be vs the dealer.

The stock rate for a dealer is probably about $140 in my area, but often you can get it done for $80 or $100 with a coupon/special.

My dealer says $109 but it ends up being around $129 with tax, disposal fees, etc. My indy does it for a lot less - under $100 for a full synthetic oil change. The main reason for going to an indy is that they have less overhead than the dealership etc.
In your case, if the dealer is more convenient, get the dealer to do it. You pay less and get a full OE oil change so no downside. $145 seems very high. From reading many of the posts on this forum, I get the sense that if you develop a good relationship with your SA at the dealership, you can often get stuff done for a price similar to an indy. For example, some have negotiated upgrading to M3 suspension components (front control arms) with their SA and received very good pricing.
