Value of 2008 328i....
Hey all, I may need to sell my 2008 328i with sport package and 6 speed manual with 102k miles. Only mods are staggered 18" wheels with summer tires and I am 2nd owner. KBB says its only worth between $2500 and $3600. That seems pretty low to me, what do you guys think? No check engine lights, etc. Since 6 speed manual is rare would that make it worth more or less?

You can or whatever you like..... The market will dictate.
Can't say manual will be a plus for your car. It is for M3 or something with sporting intent of that era. |

Where are located? Manual trans xars do not sell for high $$ in areas where there is heavy traffic. Also is it a base car? No heated or power seats, leather., I-drive. That being said, it is still low.

My car's trade-in value was around $2500. But I took the time to replace both OPG and OFHG and was able to sell at private seller price. If you want to get decent money for your aging BMW, you have to be ready to put in time and effort. That's just part of owning an older BMW. |

I hate trying to use KBB for cars like this as there's too many variables and it works fine for cars such as a Toyota Camry but enthusiast cars they basically will tell you its worthless. I do think they assume that the car has been owned and maintained(lack of) by someone who doesn't know anything and therefore the car will have issues.

I think $5k easy. Automatics with non sport are a dime a dozen, and the miles are pretty low for 2008. People who want a 6mt will pay more, people who just want an appliance can choose from the bazillion non-sport automatics (which probably are $2500 cars at this point). All it needs is a 3 stage to be a perfect DD.
I still remember getting a $2500 trade in offer for our 6mt E91. I laughed in their face, and sold it a few days later for $12,500. Last edited by hassmaschine; 05-29-2020 at 12:51 PM.. |

There is a wide range between Trade In and Private Sales. I would suggest looking at online resources like Autotrader and local dealers to gauge your cars value.

OOOOH you have both, can i know whats the differences in handling characteristics and ride comfort. Also how each steering feels and how does the chassis feel at the limit? Please

Hydraulic steering and great feedback in both, but again I give the edge to the Cayman, you can feel everything. The chasis always feels solid and connected to the road. I have not tracked it but have brought it to a big empty parking lot a few times. With traction control on you can flick the steering and slam the gas in a turn and it will drift a bit until tires hook back up and shoot you out of the corner. Traction control off and you need to control the drift yourself with the gas.
