Seat Heating on swapped Pre-Lci to Lci
Hello, i just installed some 2009 LCI sport seats in my 2006 PRE-LCI e91, the seats are the same setup, manual with heating except for the electric bolsters which im not too worried about at the moment.
The new seats are great and didnt give me any airbag lights but the heating doesn't seem to work. I press the button, it lights up and 5 seconds later it just lights off and no heat. I've read a bit and from what i've gathered im guessing i need to re-pin the yellow connector somehow. Could anyone explain how to do this and what pins i need to move to get atleast the heating to work. Cold swedish winters would be a nightmare without it |

If you take apart the yellow wiring connector, you can push on the metal tab of the connection pin and slide it out. Then insert it into the correct pin for your year car. Taking apart the car side of the plug will give you a visual reference to assist with lining up the correct wires. The attached wiring will show you how the 2006s are currently wired. Your 2009 may have a few changes.

You should diagnose you car first, you might have a bad luck and your new seats heating mat might be broken. Second, post here some pics with your old seat modules and with your new seat modules(they are located under each seat).

I recently completed just the opposite: installed pre 3/07 seats into my 2008
The seated heats were plug and play - identical wiring - no issues. So I'd suspect your new seat might have a problem? Do both seats have this problem? That would be good to know I believe the only difference in the wiring between the old and new seats should just be the bolster/lumbar power pins clearly noted on the diagram (pin 9 in your car and pin 7 in the new seat). I made those changes to the seat, not to the car harness connector so I could put the stock seats back in if I wanted. From other advice in similar successful swap posts on this forum, I chose to not move any pins in the connectors and just jumpered pin 4 to pin 9 on the seat (in your case you'd jumper pin 4 to pin 7). I just put T-Tap connectors on those 2 wires and made a jumper between them from a kit like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Everything worked for me!

Are both the pictures of the passenger seat wiring? Drivers and passenger side have a few differences. Best guess so far is, on the new seat, pin 9 needs to be moved to location 4. Wiring for 8 and 13 needs to be connected together on the backside of the plug. The donor car had 2 grounds and your car only has 1 wire run. I am not sure what to do with the missing pin 7 on your car. If may need to be connected to get power from 4. You may need to google around for that one.
If you slide the black connectors out of the yellow connectors you can get a good view of wiring colors and pin locations. To move the pins, press down on the metal tab and they will slide out the backside. |
