4 years later since this DIY was posted and I'm glad to find this post. Replaced my rear pads about 3 months ago. Wear sensor didn't seem to sit well. Now it's triggered and saying I need the immediate brake service. I'm not paying £10 for another one that might also fail. Was just driving along when it came on out of the blue.

I simply removed my pad sensors and tucked them away before they triggered any warnings. I was able to reset both front and rear service intervals and they now display 90k and 70k km respectively. I wonder what happens as the mileage countdown gets lower?

The sensors are dual staged. Once the first stage is tripped you will need to replace them (or wire them together) in order to reset them.

If your sensors are still new and neither of the stages have been tripped yet then you can tuck them away and just reset the brake service whenever the countdown gets low.

So new sensors can be plugged in, not installed on brake pad and not cut, but still reset the light?

This is Handy info! I did my front brakes the other day. I had to pull the dam wheel back off cause I realized I didn't put the sensor back on the pad. I'll just zip tie that sucker out of the way next time I have the wheel off!
