Ladies,
Cayuga doesn't do private track rentals on weekends, so we'd have to do it on Friday. Basically, the cost charged for the 1/4 drag would be ONE lane for the entire day. But I personally think a full day of dragging would be too much mental and physical toll. And then the cars would probably break too! Here's my proposal: 1. Half day on Friday afternoon - say 1 pm to 5 pm. 2. Run two lanes (cost was for a single lane for the whole day, but I think we can negotiate two lanes for a half day). I think this will be more fun as you can race the clock, but also someone else too. 3. 30 cars would probably run us $80 per person. Granted this is more than a test and tune evening at $20, but this is a private event and you can probably get in a gazillion runs in a much shorter period of time. We can expand to other BMW clubs and bring the car count up and the price down. With enough interest, $60 is possible while having enough spacing to ensure you run your pants off. 4. Another option is to rent the entire facility and do some lapping on their road course. The track rep says that this course is relatively safe as there are no elevation changes and only one wall. She feels it's safer than Dunnville. If we decide to do this, it will be a safe event - I won't have it any other way. Restricted passing in designated zones and ONLY WITH PERMISSION OF THE CAR THAT IS BEING PASSED. For the road course, we can do a weekend, but it is 30% more expensive than a weekday. Also, I don't know if the 1/4 mile is available on the weekend (forgot to ask). For those of you that have never been on a road course, we will have some volunteer instructors to show you the lines. It would be a LAPPING day. Not a racing day. You are there to learn the limits of your car and improve your skill. Aggressive drivers will be blackflagged, warned and if necessary kicked out. Let's get some discussion going. |

Helmet will probably be recommended, but not absolutely required. You will be required to sign a waiver in either case. I'll let you know of the requirements once we move to firming something up with Cayuga.

I saw Nate wearing one of these before:
or perhaps it was just his new hair cut? Put me down for some lappies as well.
