Hello so me liking to rush everything and get stuff done as quickly as possible when I replaced my valve cover it didn't come with the eccentric shaft sensor seal so I had to reuse my old one. All was fine.
Now this seal is leaking oil a bit and the last thing I want to do is remove that cover again. Has anyone replaced it with the cover on the engine? Looks very hard to do I have a spare junk one at home to practice with and it seems very tight in there, before I go fuck the one in the car up |

You can do it, but if the old seal is very hard and brittle you risk dropping pieces of it down onto the head. If the rubber is still soft then you should be able to use a pick tool and just pull it up

Just got it out of the spare cover it's pretty doable just tight actually the seal has a metal inside the rubber that helps pull it out instead of the otherwise full rubber construction I thought it was. Will be ordering a new one and replacing it on the car itself pretty confident now.
