Difference between CCC versions?
I bought a 2006 325xi as a parts car and it has CCC nav. The controller has the MENU button as well as a button for voice activation. (pictured below)
Now I have seen a newer version of CCC that has only one large MENU button on the controller, and the panel where the disks go in have many more buttons. (pictured below) Can anyone tell me the difference between these two versions? Was there a wiring change? Any information would be appreciated

No, you have this the wrong way around.
The 2006 navigation unit with the extra voice button on the controller is the very first of the CCC navigation units. The later CCC, with the buttons on the panel is the one you want. I can't recall if the voice controller had extra wiring, but you could use this controller with the later CCC unit. BMW changed to designs for various reasons, which are not made public. However, they normally fix design issues/flaws found on the earlier designs. You should always aim to get a unit closest to when BMW stopped making the CCC. Ideally, you should go with the CIC retrofit. |

Can I use the wiring from this 06 325xi and find the newer CCC screen, nav/cd unit, and controller and then retrofit it into my 07 335?

the units with two buttons are more old and prone to failure
if you want to stick with CCC you should always search unit with 10 buttons you can use idrive knob with voice button with any of these units but voice function will work only if it was ordered from factory because it is activated using special key which is downloaded to CCC unit and generated on the base of you car VIN

I have 2008 328i with CCC. I have considered retrofitting to CIC. Any recommendations about where to start? I have seen a couple of posts but am looking to purchase and have someone install for me. I don't trust myself with replacing the CCC. Thanks!
