I haven't got the car yet. The dealer says he will provide a letter to cover wheels. Haven't seen the letter yet. They say they want to get it approved by BMW first. Funny that this is the same BMW that has no responsibility, per the defence for PJS CC claim. Like everyone else, I just want to enjoy the car and not to have to think about such negative stuff

Is this wheel and tyre combo sold in the USA? Because the roads in the USA are the worst in the world in my view, esp California.

If anything I think its more likely that the cause is the rediculous volumes of speed bumps that are being installed these days. On my way to work I have to pass over 24 of them.

black or 269 alloys on e93 - body white

Hi All,

been offered 269 performance alloys or black 199 alloys to go with white 330d M highline convertible.

Its great to have the choice but now I am confused. What would you go for?

2,795 to be exact.

Lat month I placed an order for an M Sport Highline. Unfortunately I've now been told that they're stopping production of the Highline at the end of Dec & they can't get me a build slot.

My alternative, spec an M Sport with leather & bluetooth & settle for the 18" 193's. I specifically wanted the 19's & suggested they offer the 269's as an alternative. If I want these, I have to pay for them & the figure above has been quoted.

When in Oct did you try to order? I placed an order for an E92 Highline with the stealer on 24 Oct & they rang this morning to say it was built this week (which was the original build slot they quoted), it's ready for despatch & gave an me an estimated delivery date of mid Dec. which brings it forward from th original date of Dec 23rd.

269 or black alloys for white e93

Thanks for the replies. The dealer said he had an M3 in white with the black alloys and it looked really good - I always preferred the 269. Like everyone else on this board.

28 October. They say it came back from administration indicating that there were no build slots & production is finishing end Dec 09. I must have just missed it by days which makes it worse

Apparently they're now sick of the negative publicity surrounding the wheels. Why don't they just offer the 269's as an alternative.

I also prefer the 269's which are more similar to the original 225 M's. The others look aftermarket.

There's absolutely no decision to be made: 269s any day of the week.

Result Paul

My dealer says that their procedures have not changed but agreed that now, if there is no obvious sign of impact damage - even if out of round, there is some flexibility in BMW's position. I think Watchdog has been a nuisance since customers are now aware of the problem and want to talk about it - even when their wheels have not suffered cracks!

glad you got a result pjs

so what would you suggest to someone like me. 6 month old 320i m highline with 2k miles. 19" 225m and rfts.

no problems at all yet and preferably want to avoid any. should i:
(a) stick with the 225m and buy non-rfts
(b) fork out for 18" rims and non-rfts
(c) just wait and see and if/when a wheel breaks go through the palava many people have

has anyone had any dealers help with either of (a) or (b) i.e offering an exchange or good discount before any cracks have happened

Cheers

Paul

Advice? hmm. Well, even after my experience, I replaced my car with an e92 with 19" 230's.

I wouldnt go to non rfts - personal choice though, many do.

Simply check those tyre pressures and avoid potholes and speedbumps where you can. If you dont want to risk it, go for an aftermarket wheel/tyre combo and put your 225's back on when you want to sell. I'm simply hoping for the best, and if my 230's crack, maybe BMW would deal with it better then before.

So what's the sp guys with cracked wheels? Are BMW now refunding?

I bought some 230s 2 months ago - took my car into Scothalls for an MOT 3 weeks ago and had a cracked wheel. I was delighted.

I got stung for £400ish - can I now expect to claim the money back?

Would be grateful for any guidance.

Start with BMW Customer Service. Following Watchdog, BMW have commited to review each case again. Worked for me, and for some others.

Is it normal to be asked to pay £150 to have your wheels tested? BMW customer services have said they won't do anything to help me until i pay this and then there is no guarentee they will exchange the wheels.

Getting a bit sick of this, never had any problems like this in the past with VW. think i'll be in an Audi before Christmas !!!
