Coding out EGR block off

Hey guys,

I will be doing an EGR block off soon but I was wondering if anybody new of any tuners on the east coast that could code out the SES light that will appear.

Is this something a renntech tuner or evolve tuner would do as long as I signed a waver?

Not sure where you are, but I think rocket chip in red lions pa, has a tune for these cars. And I believe he can code out the egr. I use his tunes for all my vw tdis I have.

I live in North Carolina, but I don't mind making a road trip to Pennsylvania or even Ontario if that's what it takes lol

I've tried talking to some local places and so far have had no luck.

Do you have to ship the DDE for coding?

I assume that if I install an EGR blocking plate, the only thing that happen is a Check Engine Light. The coding just get rid of the CEL. Is that right?

Thanks

Not sure, i figured they would just need the ECU. I just mostly want the CEL gone so that when I get my car inspected they don't fail me.

You can ship your ECU or show up yourselves. The tune takes about 4 hours. Read this post, it has all the info you need:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1047140

@montr: Technically, the EGR can't be "coded out", it needs a reflash of the DDE software with that part deactivated.

I've had a diesel here in NC for a long time. For now a CEL won't matter as they don't do emissions check only safety for the inspection. I've heard that might change in a few years but nothing committal. I would worry about the CEL.

Cool thanks for the info! I knew they didn't do full emissions but I thought they would fail you for having a SEL...guess not

first you will need to get IAKNOWN's block off plates then either get JR or Lenny to code you out then get the DPF Downpipe from Jess and then have the exhaust system done and VIOLA you have a monster like I have

Thanks! I can't wait! I've got IAKNOW's plates on the way and will be looking into suspension and tuning next.

I am strongly considering going with JR or Renntech.

What coding shop does Lenny run?

RENNtech I repeat WILL NOT code you out Lenny I believe is SOLO now and working with MGT (Miami Group Tuning) look it up in facebook or pm me to give you his number and he will code you out. ok

I have the RENNtech flash , but JR is doing his stuff. REMEMBER once once you jump ship your car is no longer emissions ready therefore, be cautious but I beleive NC has no emissions check

hi fellow ashevillian

and I talked to jeff from rocketchip a while back. to code out EGR you need his stage 2 tune, which requires a downpipe. Not sure if that has changed in the last year though. He often comes to tdi meets here in asheville, so it'd be a good chance to catch him.

I tried to contact RocketChip (Jeff) twice via email. He is only 45 min away from me. However I never once received a reply. Considering the DDE is the heart of our car customer service and support are not just a plus, rather they are a must! I'll be going with Jarek when the time comes. He replied to my email in under 48 hours.

I find Jeff very hard to get a hold of usually. The only way I have ever reached him is by calling him.

News to me!! Any time I have taken a car in with a check engine light they have failed me..... Maybe diesel is different but I doubt it.

They do not do emissions checking but they do an OBD check, you can not have any CEL codes.
