Dealership intake cleaning

The dealership offers a recommended intake cleaning for $3-400. I bought the extended maintenance plan when I bought the car cpo, but the first dealership I asked about it said that it's not covered by the maintenance plan, even though the cleaning is recommended maintenance.

Anyone had any luck getting bmw to cover the cleaning under the maintenance plan? Has anyone done the cleaning through the stealership at all?

Are you sure the SA knew it was a diesel?

I was offered this service before but it was a chemical clean for the gasser.

Agreed. $300 to $400 seems rather low for a diesel intake cleaning. Suspect he was quoting you the price for a gasser.

As for warranty coverage on this cleaning, typical dealer line is that unless the car is throwing codes related to intake blockage, cleaning is on your dime. Now when it begins to throw codes, then it is affecting the vehicle drive ability, then warranty should apply.

Probably a dim SA. And yeah, if I wait for the car to throw a code, they'll fix it for free, so... I guess I'll just wait.

I was quoted carbon cleaning and a recommendation that I do it proactively on my dime.

Asked him to show me where it is in the maintenance schedule and how to check for it. Nope and nope. Find another sucker buddy.

Since then I've had my throttle body replaced, DDE replaced, DDE recoded, and carbon cleaning completed. All on their dime including free rentals. Before that was 8 out of 6 injectors replaced.

For a while I could pull an Axel and say no codes. But alas I got an IAT code which is being worked on this week.
