What did Factory say about the LSD?
Kind of scary and makes you think twice. Have any other LSD's done this? I was leaning towards the M Factory one over WaveT or Quaife. but wow. |

to be fair, I've never heard of anyone else having this issue with their MFactory LSD on these forums. Perhaps a fluke??? Regardless, it's pretty dicey knowing that bolts could shear off and bounce around inside of ring and pinion while driving 70mph+ on the expressway. |

Sorry to hear about the LSD, that's pretty scary. Hopefully it was just an anomaly.
I'm planning on driving Blackhawk with my 330i this weekend. It's gonna be a totally different experience than yours as my car is stock and N52 instead of N54. Regardless, any tips for tackling the corners in a heavy sedan?? Max

Can't comment, but typically labor is never covered by a parts warranty. I imagine parts suppliers would go out of business if they did as labor can often time be many times more expensive than the part being installed.

And I am JEALOUS that you're heading out to Blackhawk. I'm still recovering from ankle surgery, otherwise I would happily be out there running around the track with ya! Couple of words of advice, if this is your first time out... find an instructor who can help you find the correct line. Learn to be smooth with your steering, braking and shifting and focus on being consistent with the above. Being that you'll be driving a bit more of a momentum car (excellent learning car... My primary track car is an e30) and not an overpowered car that can mask your flaws, work on maximizing your corner exit speed. Also, don't worry about setting hot laps out there. If someone is coming up behind you, just point them by on the straights. They and you will be much happier because of it. And one more thing... Keep your hands on the steering wheel at 10 and 2 or 9 and 3 through every corner vs constantly adjusting for each corner (I didn't even do this in the above video!). This is a much easier way to regain control and find 'center' for your wheels if you should lose control. Last edited by sirdaft1; 06-21-2016 at 10:48 PM.. |

Had some fun with light painting. Note to self, clean car before light painting again. It shows EVERY piece of dirt and dead bug! I don't have Photoshop, but I'm sure the dead bugs on the front bumper are an easy edit to clean up.

I'm loving night shoots more and more. Top one almost looks batman-esque. Did the shoot with my DSLR, tripod, and a wonderful, portable, rechargeable LED shop light like this from Harbor Freight...

It's official. The 335 has upgraded MMP Stage 3 twins on order. I could not be more excited. The plan is to run it on a custom pump 93 octane tune for daily driving and hopefully land somewhere around the 500whp mark. And then consider turning it up little by little with more fueling and e85. I'm just excited to get rid of the rattling and inconsistent/sticking wastegates on the stockers. I'll keep everyone posted after they arrive and get installed. Thinking I may give her the nickname "Big Twin" going forward
Here are a few pics of the turbos being assembled (thanks MM Performance !) Mine are the top pair :-) And one sunset shot from tonight (taken with my iPhone) Last edited by sirdaft1; 07-20-2016 at 08:51 PM.. |

7/27/2016 Update - Turbo Install Has Begun!
My MMP Stage 3's have arrived and they look incredible next to the stockers. They legitimately look like jewelry because of how pristine and shiny they are. Also did a photoshoot of them for MMP's website. These things are drool worthy. Can't wait to see how they run! Side by side - Stg 3's on left, stock snails on right I'm also dealing with a sheared off exhaust manifold stud that' has caused some nasty delays, a ton of frustration and busted up knuckles. We're reaaaaaally hoping to have it removed and the engine put back together and running within the next week #fingerscrossed Pic of the HUGE PITA exhaust mani stud |

How about something like this. I heard they work good. More you tighten harder it digs in and grips

So been talking with Matt for a few days and he had a failure on his front turbo. The bearing housings have a small threaded cylinder that is welded on to hold the oil inlet line on. Something happened to the weld that holds it on and it cracked off in the middle of the weld and leaked all the oil out. I need to get the turbos back in hand to see what the root cause was of the weld failure. I'm very embarrassed by the situation and supporting Matt 100%. I am evaluating the issue very closely on the replacement turbos I am sending him to make sure the crack in the weld is not present and doesn't have a chance to happen again. I am sending him replacement turbos and covering his install cost and will make the situation right and take full responsibility.
There are others running the turbos without issue currently but I will closely evaluate the weld issue to determine if it was an issue with the weld on this turbo that had a crack or is a batch issue. Either way I will make it right. |
