Do I need to replace this shock, or just the mount?

Or, how can I tell?

Went over a pothole and this happened.

Shocks (bilstein b4) and mounts (not sure if aftermarket) are 4 years old / 50k miles.

Looking at a photo of the shock before install, that rusted bent up ring is part of the mount, not part of the shock, so I'm going to take a chance and just replace the mount (i'll do both sides)

I would order a complete shock mounting kit and replace all the bits on both sides (upper and lower.) If your passenger side looks like this, then your driver side can't be in much better shape. You'll have to take the shocks out of the car anyway to replace all the mounts, so when you do, compress the pistons by hand (there should be some resistance) and make sure they also rebound. If they check out, put 'em back in, if not, buy you some new ones.

Both upper mounts replaced a few days ago. They were completely rusted through.
Lower mounts were solid and left alone. Been driving great since.

Also, checked the shocks as perfectace described, and they're in good shape as expected (50k miles/4 years)
