nexen nfera su1 ?
Anyone used nexen nfera su1
Specifically for HPDE/Autox ? Someone mentioned it to me, I understand they may not last as long as a PSS, but I cant even get PSS at the sizes I am looking at. Wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with them. Seem cheap enough, so I might as well run with them for the first half of the season. Thanks!

I am planning on using Nexen. Obviously they wont be good as the premium tyres but from the reviews they are a very good mid range tyre.
They supply many OEM's with tyres including PORSCHE so they can be trusted - http://www.nexentire.com/internation...nal_equipment/ |

They're "Approved for Porsche." Big difference.
That doesn't mean they're found on their cars from the factory lol. It just means they pass the bare minimum requirements to be deemed safe for road use on their cars. Anywho, Nexens aren't so bad these days. They've come a long way since the mid 2000s. Based on all the mods in your sig, why restrict the ability of your car with the single most important item that affects how it's going to drive at a performance event? Surely there are better options, especially if you were looking at PSS already.

The tyre is being supplied to Porsche from the factory depending on model. Any tyre that has the OEM marking (BMW, Mercedes, VW,etc), it means they have tested the tyre on there specific model and are happy with the performance. |

Interesting. Surprised that wasn't more commonly known.
It appears it'll be on the Macan and Cayenne, in the 19" sizes leading me to believe it's for the base versions. https://www.tirebusiness.com/article...-porsche-macan Makes sense, the base Macan/Cayenne isn't a tour de force for performance. OP's needs are quite different.

well snailperfoemancesally uses nexxens on her time attack car, SUR4G. so the brand does have some cred, but I am looking at the one level lower, UHP. sometimes in line with PSS and Conti Extreme contact sport.
looks like no one's used these so far

They are not comparable to PSS or Conti ECS just because they're in the same category of summer UHP tires... The gradient of performance in that category is gigantic as you go from bottom to top.

I run the Nexen SU1 tires for the summer on both my 118i and my 335i. On the 335i I am on my second set and they have never let me down, grip is great wet or dry. (At the speeds I run in the 335i, if they ever do let me down, I won’t be around to post the negative feedback on them. ) Don’t run them when the temps start to drop though.

They are pretty quiet. When you ask about breakaway I assume you mean are they predictable? I rarely turn off Traction control so the car keeps them in check. But they feel quite predictable.
