Can a carbon fiber diffuser melt?
So here is the skinny, yesterday I installed my new three piece BMW carbon fiber parts. However, I noticed the center potion that wraps under the car is touching the muffler.
Other then rub wear, is this a problem for a fire risk? Mufflers can get so hot that they melt plastics and carbon fiber composites. I would assume no, but I would like to know what other people think since things like valve controllers, nearby wire harnesses, stock diffuser, etc. are all close together. Carbon fiber cannot melt under those conditions. That's why you see in high temp places like heat shields, motorcycle mufflers, engine bay pieces, etc. I wouldn't want my exhaust touching anything. I'd check the hangers and try to align it better. That could start squeaking like crazy while driving.
