5mm Spacers safe for Track/Autocrossing???

Hello,

I've just received my new wheels and I am currently waiting for my new tires (Federal 595 RS RR 255 square) My wheels are 18x9 ET35 TR Motorsports MT1's and I am a little concerned about the fitment upfront. If need be I was thinking of running a 5mm spacer up front to clean the strut but I am unsure if this would be safe for track use as it takes away 5mm of the hub center that the wheels sit on. There should be 5-6 mm left but that still makes me uneasy. Do any of you guys use 5mm spacers at the track?

I haven't looked into spacers for a long time but I recall the minimum recommendation was a 12mm spacer because of the hubcentric ring? A 5mm spacer isn't going to have the hub "lip". Examples below:

If that's not an option just make sure you're using the right size wheel bolts for the spacer.

Thanks for your help. That was my concern the 5mm Spacers isn't hubcentric so it takes 5mm off the hub lip that the wheel sits on. The problem with the 12mm spacer is that it would make my wheels et23 and that's going to be very tough to fit in the front of a non M E92

Do they make hub extenders for our cars? I've only seen the Turner Motorsport ones and they don't list our cars as fitting their hub extenders
