Ok so you successfully coded the e46 then went to code yours and it didn't work? Have you coded yours before?

Yes I've done my car before .then did a couple of friends (not e90s) now I tried mine and nothing

Check your latency timer settings on your cable (manage devices section of your computer). I think I had the same error come up and it seems that a windows update screwed with my settings.

GOT IT !!!! latency was at 16 set it to 1 , and it works . Big thanks to GetSomeE92
