Alarm coding Issue - VO

Hi guys,

Trying to activate my OEM alarm after install. I have followed this tutorial to create a new VO for the alarm under CAS but I can't complete step number 17 as my car doesn't list an LMA ECU.

http://codinge90.com/ncs-expert-how-...vehicle-order/

Any thoughts on this? Could mine be a different label if the software still has some German in it? Or do I even have to do this step?

Alarm coding tutorial is here for reference as well: http://codinge90.com/activating-e90-oem-alarm-system/

Listed ECUs that appear in order are:
2URAD
6BMOT
ABG
AMPT
BDSC
CAS
DWAI
DWAS
EKP
FAS
FRM
FZD
IDK
JBBF
KOMBI
RLS
TCUM
VGSG

Thanks in advance!

Kurtis

I'm in a similar situation. I have a Feb 2007 production e91 and I only have:

6BMOT
ABG
AMPT
BDSC
CAPPL
CAS
CAUDI
CGATE
EGS
EKP
FAS
FRM
FZD
IHK
JBBF
KOMBI
LSMC
PDC
PGS
RLS
RSMC
SHD
TCUM
TGBT
TGFT
VGSG

and I have been unsuccessful at accessing DWAS and DWAI without errors. I'm waiting on new Daten files which may be the issue.

Yeah mine is a 2007 e90 (328xi). I haven't tried modifying the DWAS or DWAI modules as I didn't want to skip any steps in the coding process and mess-up my car.

Why do you think the Daten files would affect this? Shouldn't it just sense the LMA ECU from the car?

The vo isn't in any of the modules. I had to do this when retro fitting an AGM battery. It's that screen in ncsexpert where you enter the FA. There are symbols with $ in it that you have to change. You'll have to find the right code to add to that.

Look at this page and maybe this will help you.

Edit: also believe you code frm not lma since I don't think the e90 has that one. It's been awhile since I've messed with this.

Thanks BimmerGuyDC. I think you might be right that it's FRM. Searching on that did come up with some things online. If it isn't FRM and I write in +K302 for the alarm, it wouldn't cause any foreseeable issues would it?

No. Basically the VO is stored in two modules. I think it serves as some kind of backup if one should fail. When I changed my battery to an AGM one I had to code the VO in those two modules and then change the charging profile under CAS.

After you do that. You should be able to code the individual modules to active when you pull/write a MAN file. Always save a backup of the file MAN file too until you get the hang of it.

Unfortunately my cable has decided to not allow me to find the ignition in INPA so I haven't been able to finish my coding. Going to take the cable apart and see if it's the chipset that people have been advising to link pins 7 and 8.

Didn't you get connected before? Or is this just an inpa issue? There is kind of an order of operations I always had to go through to get inpa to connect.

I did connect before and had both the battery and ignition lights blacked out, so I don't know what's going on with the system. I've been playing with the order and haven't seen any results so if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.
