E90 2009 - 325i - no resistence when closing the bootlid (solved)

Hi my friends,

I have an 325i, E90, 2009 model, only 33.000 km on dash, and my question is about the effort to close the bootlid of this car.

In general, when the driver closes the bootlid from any saloon car, he will have to "drive" the bootlid to near close position and apply a little descendent impulse to close the bootlid.
But on my BMW i have to support the bootlid with my hand, it is very heavy in comparison with other car's bootlid, and when the bootlid is about 2 inches from the bumper, I release the bootlid for it to close. It shows no resistance on the way from fully open to close position.
If it slips from my hand, it drop with high speed and shock on bootlid lock.

Is this the normal behavior of this mechanism?? Or there is something loose or worn on it? I found no damage or any fault visible on it.

Best Regards,

Paulo Roberto
Brazil.

Hopefully that fixes it!
I have a pair of the Emeralds... they work great for opening, but you have to use a lot of force to close.

Thumbs up

Hi StradaRedlands!

I purchased a pair of Stabilus struts, model 034249, from ebay, shipped from United Kingdon, 55.74 EUR (shipping costs to Brazil + pair of struts), and the result was excellent! Bootlid working as new!

It came with a little quantity of adequate grease at linking points.

Take a look at pictures attached.

Thank you very much for the help!
