Hi all,

I'm trying to diagnose a knocking sound from the front axle. Since all of the parts are more or less brand new, I have been looking for installation errors.

After loosening the front shocks, I found that there is a bit of play in the top mount (up and down), as you can see and hear in the video:

Is that normal?

Took me a while to figure out what was going on there. I'd say that's normal, unless it's excessive; the bearings aren't fully tight in those. YMMV

I should add that both shocks and top mounts are basically brand new (1 month old).

You're saying front, I'm assuming you're referring to struts and strut mounts?

What brand of strut mounts did you use?

Is the top nut securely tightened on the strut assembly?
