Fumoto engine drain plug

I have 2008 BMW 335XI and I did not like the install with this plug. One the drain plug is in the bottom of the oil pan on my car. That meant when I installed the fumoto it was 90 degrees to the ground, plus the door did not close. That drain valve perpendicular to the ground was not a good idea so I went back to drain plug.

The best way is to buy the aluminium OEM removal bracket...then you can use any wrench to pry it off. I found that trying to use a generic filter remover strap wrench is awkward and wears out the cover and makes horrible marks.

So I just change the oil on my BMW my self and it took me longer then i expected. after some research and reading the post out here i think i might have done a few things differently or missing a few steps.
since this is my first oil change ever I am really concern about this and even consider going to the dealer and have them do it tomorrow.

first question, I use the Mobil 1 5W-30, I wonder if they are any good or is it even OK to use this type of synthetic oil?

second question, My service light was on and i thought it was due to the fact that I was suppose to change my oil. after changing my oil and drove it for 15 miles, every time i start up the car, the service sign comes on. I was wondering if i was suppose to reset the odometer or something?

Third question, I dropped the old washer for the draining plug inside the draining pan, so i just used an old washer from someone else drain plug that they do not use anymore. It fits perfectly but I'm still worried if i should replace it. I was wondering if that will effect my draining plug, engine, etc.... ?

last questions, I was in the hurry while changing the oil filters, so I didn't even pay attention to the two rubber O-rings (small and large) and one copper crush washer. so I didn't even change the O-rings, and use a washer that i found laying around for the drain plug, should I worry about the O rings? Should I replace the filter again or should i just leave it alone?

any suggestion and tip will be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks

I think you have no clue on how to work on cars and should take your car to a proffesional to have it serviced.

I freakin' couldn't get the oil cap off so all I did was replace the oil with fresh one. I will have to take my car to the dealership or a BMW shop now. Sucks.

You couldn't get the oil filter off? What tool did you use?

My hands??? hahaha. I don't believe you need a special tool to unscrew the oil filter cap.

Before you laugh too hard at people, it completely depends on the previous person to tighten it.

the oil filter is impossible to get off because of the stupid rubber sealing ring they have on the filter cap. wrist breaking to get off, wrist breaking to put back on. jesus. the strap style filter wrench is useless for this. sure sucks.

I have a question regarding topping off my e92. The other day my car said I needed to add a quart of oil so I just opened the oil cap and poured in oil without specifically pouring it into the smaller hole that is inside. Does the oil need to specifically fall in the smaller hole or is it okay just to pour it into the big general oil cap on the engine bay?

Oil change-washer

I would be careful with that lost washer. On my recent oil change the washer was "stuck" to the oil pan. I had to slightly pry it off with a small screwdriver. It looked like it was part of the pan. There are other posts of the washer being stuck.

Dumb question. 335i requires about 6.5 litres of oil right? Do you guys buy 7 x 1 litre bottles or 2 x 5 litre bottles?

Help!

Quick question, when you elevate the car on the ramps to drain the oil, wouldn't there be a bunch of oil left over on the side of the oil pan that is at lower elevation? I would think to completely drain the oil; the car needs to be on the lift parallel to the ground and not sloped. Any help is greatly appreciated!

DIY oil

As far as the quantity of oil, my E90 used 6 Qrtz and the electronic dipstick is 1/2 way. Make sure it isn't too high. 7 would be too much. Also, you can't check the oil unless the car is moving. This is somewhat irritating as it's nice to know what the level is prior to driving.
My understanding is BMW uses Castrol synthetic. I read somewhere here that the walmart brand(of castrol) is NOT the same. Great.
I jacked my car up on all 4's. I placed wood over the jack stands to rest the vehicle on. Also measure how much oil you ger out. This helps with replacement.

Obviously the position of the car will help get as much of the oil out as possible. But I don't think you should worry too much because there will still be old oil throughout the engine. Its impossible to get 100% out. I don't think parallel to the ground is ideal either because the plug is towards the rear on the RHS. I used to worry about that kind of thing. These days my only concern is safety and to absolutely minimise the risk of anything going wrong while I am underneath.
