Little help in selling a car, any tips/recs?

I'm not looking to promote the car here for sale, I already have it in CL, Kijiji, Autotrader and in the classified section.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details...ue&edited=true

There's the ad. My question is, how do I position it to sell? A few drawbacks perhaps:

317k km
Manual
2006 (old)?
I'm flexible with the price but posted it at 5k down from 6k as I saw between 6-7k for mileages around 200-250k

Not sure which element above is more concerning to people so any marketing suggestions to help sell the car so I can wrap my current car would certainly be appreciated!!

Your car has very very high mileage, anyone interested in your car would wanted for much cheaper than 5k. In my mind your car will only last me a year or 2 tops , I ll even be afraid of maintenance during my short time of ownership
Most people that are going to buy a 12 year old car with that amount of mileage are not going to pay over 3k ( and that is because it is a bmw) .

However , you may be able to get close or have a faster sale if you write down more details about the car, I find your add is too short and it leaves a lot of questions out there , these questions are probably just turning off a lot of guys who may even consider your car

I would at least write down what maintenance has been done to the car, what components have been change in the last 100 k , new brakes? water pump? fluids? . I would also highly consider having the car E test and safety ready. Anytime I look for a used cheap car the first thing that comes to my mind is how much am I going to spend trying to e test and safety the vehicle. I ve seen a 1000 $ car that requires 2000 $ to be ready to go on the road , so that is a big turn off

I ll be honest your car is 5k on the higher end , so you would need to post every detail on why your car is a good deal . If you just want to sell as is , I really do not see many people paying over 4k for it

Your car is exactly (RWD 6MT Sport 330) what I was shopping for a couple years ago, but I can't say I'd give you the 5k you're asking. I'd probably have come to look at it, as the car looks very clean, and the paint looks from the photos to be very good.

How much of the 317k is highway/city? Highway miles are easy miles compared to city miles, and some areas of the city the roads really beat up the suspension.

I spent nearly two decades running automotive dealership sales departments. There is only one reason a car doesn't sell - and I mean it, only one. Ever.

That is PRICE.

It will always come down to one of two things:

1) The actual price is too high for the value of the product.
2) The perceived value of the product is too low for the price.

So, with that said, either your price is too high, or you have failed to prove the value of the vehicle is worth the price you are asking. In your particular case, I believe your price is too high for the market on your vehicle. If you feel your price is in line with prevailing market trends and pricing, then you have failed to explain to the potential buyers why it is worth what you are asking.

I would guesstimate your car to be worth 2500-3000 max and that is if it passes a Inspection without any major issues.....just too risky to spend more than that on that kinda mileage.
Your best to just drive it into ground IMO if it's still running healthy.

I don't necessarily think that your price is wrong, but you need to give more detail. Your ad looks like it wasn't prepared with much care.
- There aren't many pictures, one is repeated twice and the pictures that you do have aren't great.
- No mention of all the services done to the car
- No mention of how the KM's have been accumulated

I would spruce your ad up, and you'll probably get more hits. Remember you are competing with a lot of cars that have a lot lower km's, and although km's don't mean as much as people think they do scare people off.

Not sure if anyone would pay 5k for a bmw that has 317k km, consider you live in a big city, there are lot more options out there. Imo I wouldn't pay more than 2k.

Is that a crack on the left front bumper? And "well maintained" you need service records to back that up

Can't quite tell from your photos if it's in good cosmetic condition, but I'd certainly get that headlight polished.
