So nothing at all to share yet? Just curious, I know the initial dates for the N55 E series was Q2 launch. I think there is a good amount of us looking at options as the N55 is increasing in popularity.

Almost feels like this will go another year into 2k19. Wow sure is taking a Lonnnnng time!
Rumor has it that another popular vendor is coming out with a single big turbo big manifold kit so it is great there will be more options. Last edited by ceedawg; 09-19-2018 at 02:43 PM.. |

Big Boost kit is a great option at around $3,000. I can't imagine VTT is going to be any less than this if they are using an actual Garrett turbo. I'm guessing that they see N54 and S55 development as more lucrative, hence why they are focusing on getting those products done first.

Pardon me biz. For years I have heard of the N54's superiority, and have commented a time or dos. I feel that while having the two turbos on a stock engine has an advantage in lower power cost on initial tuning, once we go FBO, then PI and / or single turbo the differences will be further minimized. Money be damned. Not to mention it's not like the N54 didn't have a 6 year head start on aftermarket parts design. My mechanic has an '08 M3. He just installed a box that does flex fuel. Running all e85 he just bolted in 100 extra hp for 1100 bucks. Now that is a good return on investment.
We'll see where things end up after VTT puts this bad boy out. Then we can all debate strength of the internals. I am running Pure 2, PI, MHD custom tune, and e50. The power that combination provides is plenty enough for me. I honestly can't fathom what 700 at the wheels must be like. |

Anyone looking at a single turbo kit and can't wait why don't you just buy a BigboostUSA kit or a doc race top mount. There's plenty of options just like the n54 to make as much power as them.

As promised our N55 test unit it here. Few teaser pics. This is for a PWG turbo, but we will have EWG of course. We will be using a similar set for the N54's. This particular version is a genuine Garrett GTX3076R center section in custom cast SS turbine housing, 2 piece V-band manifold. This is similar to what we offered in the past with VERY BIG differences being. The biggest problem with every "Stock Frame" N55 upgrade on the market is just that; the "Stock Frame" housing. They are restrictive, designed for quick spool and torque production, NOT making power. These new upgrades get rid of those restrictions on the turbine side and will allow for an easy 500WHP+ to be made on this size unit without overspeeding the unit. We are the hunt for an N55 PWG tester and will get this tested in short order.

I hope someone with a PWG car volunteers in a hurry. Will be excited about the EWG. Definitely a superior turbo compared to the build and structure of the PS2 and PS1 for the N55 using the crappy stock turbofold and an anonymous big compressor and turbine wheels on the small stock shaft creating an unbalanced turbo. The stock CHRA was not designed for this. Garrett CHRA with original wheels and 2 piece V band manifold are the KEYS!! Is the time frame for the marketing of these turbos still on schedule? We are still anxiously waiting for this!

In for more details and possibly being a tester for pump and/or port injection numbers.

I work at a facility that machines compressor wheels for Garrett (Honeywell) and Cummins. For some reason Garrett does not use splitter blades on most of their wheels while Cummins uses them on pretty much every part. Would be interested to know why. I believe the stock Borg compressor wheels have splitters. Obviously it comes down to a lot of flow testing but it would be cool to see the results.

• DIRECT plug and play kits will be available for the N55, meaning factory lines, factory downpipes, factory charge pipe connections, etc will be retained. • Turbo options for the N55 direct plug and play kits will be as follows. o E- Series 2013, and below PWG N55: GTX3076 sized JB turbochargers, retaining factory boost control They state this will be compatible with factory-compatible downpipes, chargepipes etc. I'm curious to see what turbo is actually included. The original post seems to indicate it's a "GTX3076R-sized journal bearing turbo," however the picture of the pre-production test kit above seems to have a true Garrett GTX3076R. |
