Sports steering wheel for non-sport airbag.

Was originally on eBay for $350 plus shipping. Didn't sell so I scooped it up when it went up for auction. Only paid $185 and the quality and feel is pretty damn good sorry for the pics uploading sideways, not sure why.

I likes it. Was it just a straight swap?

(goes on eBay to look for one)

Well yeah because it isn't? That wasn't really the point of the swap, but thanks for trolling! I don't really get why you would take the time to comment just to say something like that but whatever. I like my new steering wheel and honestly that's all that matters.

Yep. maybe took 20 minutes after the battery was disconnected. The most difficult part was swapping the steering wheel buttons over, but that was only because they are pressure fit.

Everything works fine. I would have swapped to a sports steering wheel but the airbag alone would have cost more than this mod. In addition I did not want to purchase a recalled airbag by accident as well.

Can you elaborate some more how you did the swap ? Every time I want to do this the airbag gets in the way ($$), also the X5 non sport wheel is way bigger than sport so I'm still not sure how this could be done on x5

If I understand it correctly his new "sports" steering wheel isn't genuine. If it was genuine it would require the sports airbag. Looks like somebody made a sports wheel out of a normal steering wheel. That's why he was able to replace it without needing a new airbag. But correctly if I'm wrong, I don't know it for a fact.

From my understanding, it is a recovered non-sport wheel with added padding and shaping. It has a bmw parts code and what not. The swap is fairly straight forward, you just have to disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes before you begin so that the airbag doesn't deploy and so that you don't throw any fault codes.
