Hey all!

My MULF2 unit is dead so until I have enough money to replace it, I was wondering if I can just bypass it in the MOST loop so that all my AUX and stuff works?

If so, how would I go about doing this?

Disconnect the fibre optic plug that goes into it, unclip the 2 heads and join them together.

Sorry I'm not too sure what you mean. I understand that the smaller black plug is the MOST port but what two heads?

There is a Most Junction Box/ Hub behind the rear seat bolster
on the US Drivers side. You can reroute there or just buy
a Most jumper and put it right at the Mulf. That will at least close the Most Loop I don't know if the faulty module will throw error messages .

There are some DIY's that show this junction box in the DIY section
for things like adding the ipod or cd changer .


You might be a to kludge a cheap most jumper together with something like a straw and some duck or electrical tape. Find a small tube that just fits over the fiberoptics end piece stick the fiberoptic from input and output of the mulf in the tube tape in place.

I use part number 4 below when I come across this kind of issues in customers cars, and hell those issues are too common.



Remove the MOsT plug from the BT module, unclip those 2 green wires and join them in the part 4 (BMW part number 61136906535) from the picture (Or similar)

Or use the suggestion made by CTUNA. It is good too, but personally I have lots of spare part 4 and I don't bother as it can be tricky to unclip this "junction" box for the Most connectors.

I successfully bypassed my MULF Unit (underneath the TCU unit) in the trunk of my 2009 e93 (328i convertible). I purchased the recommended fiber optic jumper cable, modified it as directed on various forums, and secured it to the MULF fiber optic connector.

As a result of the bypass, I've lost AUX input (under the center arm rest).

I don't think I have lost any other functionality that I desperately need, but I would really like to connect my phone to my car speakers (likely via AUX cable).

It seems like it may be possible to connect an AUX cable to the head unit?

By the way, I have nav/iDrive.

Thanks for any ideas or guidance on recovering AUX functionality without replacing my faulty MULF unit.

you need to get or make aux cable to headunit and connect aux socket to that cable and headunit and recode headunit
another option - you can buy MULF2 unit pre-coded to you options list, from qualified electirc, simply replace failed and everything should work

where do you look for the mulf2 precoded?

both aux and usb come from the mulf in a lot of cars.

Blue tab on Fiberoptic connector is the locking pin see video.
