Bad news then I guess.. Using a torch I've now taken a look beneath the turbos and have found multiple oil spatter on the exhaust heat shielding and on the Steering rack.

To the dealer tomorrow then..

m.rk77 are you saying the resolution to your issue was new turbo's or adjusting the oil feed pipe to fit correctly?

Pipe doesnt worry me... replacement turbo's with less than 2500 miles gives me some degree of concern.

Thanks

quattro is yours a 335d?

it will be a build issue on your particular car, or batch of turbos or something.

quattrogmbh: they replaced the turbos because they were full of oil and they were leaking oil all over. The vehicle had approx 18000 km. (there was a lot of oil as you can see in teh pictures in the link that I pasted earlier...

They also had to adjust this oil pipe because it was not installed correctly and they said there was a part missing...

The car drives well, so no need to worry. I just wonder why this pipe was not installed correctly...

well.... They tell me all is well in the engine compartment. The "Oil Spatter" is grease spatter. not from a turbo, but from somewhere else and common.

I must also have a hyper sensitive nose. It is to be expected that there is a diesel smell under the bonnet as many of the vacuum actuated valves are vented to atmosphere.

Anyway.. we shall see...

Hello everyone,

After read this thread I spent 5 min to look under the bonnet of my car and found that mine can have the same problem.
I can’t notice any smell in there with the engine running but, there is a bright stuff in one of the points placed in the fist photo of these thread, in an orange pipe and at the bottom, in the engine protection.
Tomorrow during the day I’ll check this better.

Well I won't be losing any sleep over a potential problem, nor opening the bonnet.
If it goes bang,I'll pick up the phone and ring the dealership,"sorry Mr.Dealer the car went bang, please pick it and fix it".

C'mon Guys, there is a warranty in place,as long as you trade in before the warranty expires, where is the worry.

This is my thinking, if i wanted to worry about oil leaks, i'd have bought a Landrover.

PSLG: that looks like a lot of oil, you definitely have the same problem i had. I bet you have some oil around the turbos also.

looks identical to these pictures that I took before I had mine fixed: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ght=bmw+diesel

Should take it to the service

Hi,

the car will go to service this Saturday, near the turbos every thing is dry and I didn’t found any oil in there.
Thank for the information, this will prevent some major problems.

Best regards,

PSLG

Thumbs up

ok, good. No worry, its just simple maintenance. Thats the negative to such a powerful diesel engine...

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with this problem.

I will tell you that my vehicle works well. No loss of power or anything, but it's good to take it to service and have it checked and cleaned up...

In this picture you can see where the problem was. I believe that this tube was not installed correctly.
