Also Derek, I had a friend ask me about powdercoating. Its a 2008 Silver Jeep Wrangler Sahara. I'm pretty sure he wants the factory 5-spokes done in matte black.
I told him i new the right guys for the job. Guess who I told him to call....

Who the hell is Martin?

Please advise with expertise:
Linea Corse wheels - Powder coat or Paint?

what will hold up better in snowy, salty conditions?

In words of the great Derek, and I quote (from a text I got from him) "we don't powder coat that shit looks like cock"

They hand paint wheels, looks wayyyyyy nicer then powder-coat.

Who's car did you detail?
Unmesh, his username is umzzy on here. You guys resprayed his whole front end, if it wasn't for the rock chips it could easily pass as factory paint. The paint was the perfect softness to work with as well, soft enough to be correctable, but still hard enough so it's not easily swirled.

This is the classic "catch-22".
The car in question (GT-R) was, in fact, painted almost 3 weeks prior to the installation of the film. We do bake our finishes in our climate controlled Lutro paint booths. This client insisted the car be wrapped before ever leaving the shop- heck, with a three stage lamborghini pearl who could blame him!

We have been experimenting with this for years- it's truly a double edged sword. We've had customers have their front end painted and decide to wait the two months, only in that time to get sand blasted behind a truck on the highway and decide to shoot the car again before immediately applying the PPF.

In theory, you are correct, as per the PPF manufacturers you should wait for the paint to propery cure. The advantages of doing it immediately are obvious. The disadvantages, well, so far our clients nor us have experienced any!
I see, thanks for the info! Have you ever seen/worked with paint which has had the PPF removed at a later time? I'm curious if the outcome would just result in slightly softer paint? I guess this wouldn't really be much of an issue as some paint (like jetblack on BMW's or Infiniti's) is really soft even from the factory, it's just more of an annoyance. Then again, if new PPF film is applied after the old one is removed, it wouldn't matter then anyway.
