for those of you with AW, how are your parts coming out?

meaning, i got my rear bumper painted aw(aftermarket of course) and the color is a little off.... my painter will repaint but he said often they blend in the paint w/ the rest of the car to match it... i really do not want him touching paint on the car that does not need to be touched...

so, this month i should be installing my m3 sides for longtran..... i hope those match otherwise im going to have a car with all diff shades of white!

how has it been for you guys and what are you guys doing to correct the problem?

yea, white is hard to match, but longtran seems to be doing it right.

I remember my friend's white acura had the front and rear bumpers repainted.. the color was off so bad you could tell from a mile away.

depends on the paint system used, some have up to 8 variants, I put my mtech kit in to get sprayed up last week and they used a computer gizmo to scan the paint, this was then taken back to the main computer to calculate the match, and apparently its code 300 G&D (Green and Darker) most of the time.. I get the parts tomorrow so lets see how this comes out

Of all the pieces I've seen done locally they weren't matched 100%. AW shouldnt be that difficult as long as the painter does a proper shade card to evaluate how much pearl or whatever to mix.

I'll be severely pissed if it doesn't come out well, after the amount of cash I blew on this kit and spraying it I should have just traded it in for an M3...

I got all my parts from my local BMW stealer hip and they gave me wholesale prices, but all in all with the ducts, wheel arch liners, grilles, fogs, adapters and under shield it was hitting just over $1000, the skirts were $130 each and the rear I got from a friend... best bet is to ring Tischer and get the whole package, saves you a shed load of time and the dealers have no idea what parts are needed etc... they're prices are darn good too, the only downer is shipping.. bust still the best bet.

Painting cost me $ 700 for the front and the sides.. I basically got a good deal from a BMW approved collision shop. Most people wanted 400 for the front alone, I found 350 was the cheapest I could get anyone down to without going to a back street bodyshop, I am not knocking the latter, I just don't know any here in Atlanta...

Many people have told me to just swap out the cover and visual parts and not worry about the cooling / internals, I wasn't going to risk anything and went down the proper path.. if BMW is going to change the cooling set up then its done for a reason, and the under-shield is different too, so I didn't want dirt messing up the components and then having to fork out for things going wrong, the HPFP was more than enough of a pain to deal with.

There is a guide from BMW on fitting the parts, I can send it over your way if you want..
