NCP are bastards though, no doubt about that.

Sorry for the delay in my response, but I want to comment to earlier posts., I didn’t see the ’07 typo, couldn’t recall the exact colour at the time, so put a colour which was close enough, but the official BMW colour is sparkling graphite. Don’t think the thieves minded, don’t have GAP and wanted to avoid getting side tracked talking about insurance: the dealer never suggested the need for a tracker and the Welshness connection is because I live in Wales.

I’m not a rival of NCP, not ‘pro’ any car park and only the national newspapers given NCP bad press would have any financial impact on such a huge company as NCP. I am entitled to be pissed off with them discovering just how many cars have been stolen from here and I don’t think NCP are unique in what I consider have provided a crap service.

The aim of ALL CAR PARKS is profit. It’s likely they pay their staff minimum wage with a majority of their labour force made up with unskilled immigrant workers that don’t give a shit if cars get damaged or stolen. I envisage the majority if not all car parks would have terms and conditions similar to NCP that will wriggle out of paying compensation in the event cars gets damaged or stolen.

It’s not just mine and Doc Matt that have had our cars stolen from here and looks like Mega could see what I was trying to do. I joined forums where I found specific threads to this car park and posted my experience for others to comment. Since 2008 various makes, Honda Integra, Evo, Subaru’s have tailgated out via the exit barrier or staff entrance. The status on all these cars except one is ‘unrecovered’. Latest post found in the Audi forum, (dated 2010) where a guy commented his father’s M3 was stolen from here and with mine the little shits have just had another one.

These posts would not reflect the true figure , majority of people in UK don’t belong to forums and many people wouldn’t bother to join to warn others, so got no idea how many cars are being nicked from here. The purpose of my posts of these forums was to warn people the bastards are stealing here and for others to comment.

I had hoped to collect info of models/makes/dates and present this to the Operations Manager at BHX airport and to prompt the police to investigate further. This car park can hold 5,100 cars, majority won’t be on the thieves shopping list, but small percentage will be. NCP are taking a lot of money for this car park and as I see it it’s also providing a nice annual turnover for the thieves with little deterrent when they are caught. As the police explained NCP could install additional barriers to prevent this, but their priority is profit so this will continue.

Fair enough - as I said: they're bastards for the reasons you describe and extortionate prices. It would not take a lot of effort to make it more secure. Which is why I always get a cab.

Usually when a car goes missing the first thought is look out for my car.

Registration is xx08xxx and here is some pictures.

Look out for the car or any parts you might have been offered, but never once have you commented on the car other than getting quite a few details wrong.

I'm sure that the thieves would probably not mind the colour of your car at all, but I'm sure that the owner of a car such as an M3, which they bought new, would easily have the right colour in their head.

It's not as if the car is a colour that your description is more accurate than some of the loose colour names than manufacturers use.

You typed 07 a few times on forums. Quite clearly you are pretty sharp behind that keyboard and the rest of the spelling and grammar looks good. It just seems an odd mistake to carry when again most owners would have the year and registration of such a car imprinted in their brain.

The whole thread seems to be aimed towards having a go at the car park rather than having any interest in the recovery of your car.

You have taken a lot of time going around lots of different car sites and typed a fresh story each time.

It's very precise and detailed. You have clearly put a lot of time, thought and effort into this.

Is there no interest in asking any the various sites including a few BMW sites with any assistance to look of for the car or parts to try and either recover it, or catch the actual criminals?

For all NCP are stupidly expensive to park you car and they could do more, surely your anger should be more aimed on the criminals that actual stole the car?

Agree fully with Kerr's comments.

Also, although it's no crime, why the diversity of forum user names? I'm suprised you can even remember your login details for all these forums! Even the DXB keeps some semblence of continuity in his forum user names (no offence intended DXB).

I have to agree - you would certainly have been better off using the same user name and a simple 'cut and paste' of the text of the post would have saved you a massive amount of time.

Only a thought, but why not submit a 'freedom of information act' request to both NCP and the police force that covers the car park asking the number of cars stolen from there in a given period?

Something smells. Why not come on the forum and tell the truth mate rather than use it in this underhand way?

Odd that you didn't know the year or colour of your motor.

Didn't prebook, got all keys, no duplicate requests, vehicle was targeted in THIS carpark and gone less than 48 hours after parking -notified from home 2nd day of hols.

No tracker, but that wouldn't have prevent them from nicking it. Astonished by the lax of security, this isn't Asda carpark, but inside the perimeters of one of the main airports in the UK. I assumed there would be CCTV coverage everywhere, especially in the light of heightened awareness since Bin Laden's killing. Also massive police station adjacent to this carpark.

This car park has Park Mark Safety Achievement, high, fenced enclosure, CCTV and regular patrols. All these security features are ineffective when the barrier gate allowed thieves to tailgate and get a stolen vehicle out. The ANPR at NCP checks the registration and will flag up non-payment at the exit barrier, therefore as the police officer explained, the cctv concentrates on the location of the registration plates and they have no image of the occupants.

Response from NCP, sorry for the 'inconvenience' read our T&C - this is a public place, we don't refer to our carpark as 'secure' and you leave you car at your own risk.

This car park hold 5,100 vehicles, first time I've parked here. If your vehicle is still there upon your return it's likely the thieves don't actually want your vehicle rather than the security at this car park.
I sense some b/s here OP.....

Spot the difference

Does your brain only work on M3forum.net? Where is the link between the OP and this post made two years ago? (other than they were both stolen from a carpark...)

I've read the whole thread, it's you who needs to read it again. The OP linked that thread to show it has happened to someone else a few years ago. The guy in the linked thread DID have a tracker, the OP of this thread DIDN'T. Honestly what is so hard to understand about that?
