Squeaking noise (new rotors)
How’s it goin everyone, I just recently installed r1 concept E-line rotors and semi-metallic pads on my 2011 RWD e90 335i. Everything went well until I heard a squeaking noise on the right side of my car (I believe from the rear right wheel) and it only happens when I drive forward. I didn’t notice anything loose when I took the wheel off and the metal cover wasn’t touching the rotor. So what could it possibly be? I understand new rotors or pads squeak when they are new but Its only on one side and I sanded off the edges to reduce that noise, brakes are working completely fine. Any help would be great thank you

did you put anti squeak grease on the back side of the pads before you put them in?
did you put the metal clips back on the caliphers? I have the same setup...it only squeaked when i didn't put the metal clips back on the caliphers back on. |

I didn’t put any anti squeak grease at all but I don’t think that sould matter, especially since it only happens when I drive forward. And yes I believe the metal pieces are back on

i would make sure the clips are secure then. i did notice the calipher do move a little bit when the clips are not properly installed. They do make a slight noise when they move.

You can try lots of things, but often times using non-stock pads/rotors can result in squeaks.
Especially, if they are metallic or semi-metallic. Ceramic rarely squeak. |

Ya I totally get that but it’s just odd when it’s only on one side and only happens when I drive forward, not even my buddy who’s a mechanic gets that

I'll probably upgrade to akebono pads later, mainly because i'm not happy with the brake fade in the canyons with those pads, but on the street they're fine. |

Alright so I finished taking the entire brake set apart. Well for shits and giggles I sanded the edges of the parking brake shoe, I randomly adjusted the shoe themselves, and sanded the edges of the rotor where the shoe goes. And sprayed WD-40, just because I wanted a cherry on top.....and the squeaking noise went away! I’m hoping the noise won’t come back at all and it will stay that way for Bimmerfest
