Finally get into the 13.3s

I finally figured out how to get into the 1.9 60 fts with a completely stock 335 on run flats. The result: a 13.344 1/4 mile @ 103.23 mph (1.969 60'). The weather was nice about 58 degrees and there were very few cars at the dragstrip. I got 21 passes in 3 hours! We were basically hot lapping every time. This was done on 93 octane. Later, I began to run a little low on fuel so I added about 1/2 gallon of 100 octane to my tank, giving me around 95-96 octane. On my last run I got a 13.268 @ 103.7 mph (1.975 60ft'). I had two other 13.3 runs, one with 93 octane, the other with the slighly boosted 95-96 octane. Now I need to see if I can get a 13.2 on 93 octane (I think I should be able to) and I also want to see if I can get into the 12s on 112 octane, completely stock (might be far-fetched).

On a side note: there was very very little track prep done. Maybe 5 minutes at the beginning of the night.

I have a MT. I hold rpm around 3k. On the last yellow, I let the clutch out a very small amount, maybe a quarter of the way. As Im getting out of the hole, I slowly let it out all the way. I just feel it out, but the key is to ride it and only let it out a small amount, until you feel it hook up.

Dang, that's pretty good! You know, even though people talk a lot about cooling cars down and what not, I've found that I get best results hot lapping my car too. When the car sits with the engine off and hood open, the car is a 1/10 or 2/10 slower for me. When I basically hot lap, I get more consistent runs - but more importantly, I notice I get better launches - maybe the tires are generally warmer and the brakes are HOT so they keep the tires and wheels warm and that gives more traction. Just my guess as to why hot lapping gives me and possibly you better 1/4 times.

BTW, make sure your 112 octane is NOT leaded. The gas at our track - the 100 octane is not, but the 112 octane IS leaded and will destroy your cats.

that is a great time on a stock car.....well done! My best 60 ft on the stock RFT was also in the 1.9x's w a manual. Actually, I had a procede installed so you were launching w/ much less tq in comparison, it might even be easier w/ less tq.

I was using the same technique, there is no way your going to dump the clutch w this car and get a good launch. i also found that going full throttle in 1st was a no no as it just spin.
