BMW owner reimbursement for recall work done at independent shop?

Has anyone had success with the BMW Owner Reimbursement Program?

My FRM Footwell Module had failed and was replaced by my independent shop as my 2011 335i was out of factory warranty. After the fact, I found out there was an extended warranty on the FRM module that was sent out as a TSB two years ago, so I submitted the work to the BMW Owner Reimbursement Program and they denied me for the work because it wasn't done at BMW.

Is there any way to get them to reimburse me for work done at an independent shop or no?

Thanks for any info.

They won't reimburse you for work done by an independent shop, unfortunately. You're SOL.

I figured this was going to be the case.

reimbursement

I got reimbursed on my 2011 328i for the footwell module and a new battery and the work was done by an independant shop. The only stipulation for BMW was that it had to be under a certain mileage. This was done in 2017. NOW here we are in 2021 and the Footwell Module went out again just yesterday!
I thought I read somewhere there was a recall on these modules. I am going to try and get the reimbursement. The cost last time was $1852.65 There is a site where they repair them but not sure if thats a good idea.

If they say no, send it to the site for repair.
