Pro tune finished on 98 RON / see post # 21

Hi all,

Been a reader on here since 04-2007. Not much of a poster as usually all the info I needed could be found on the forum. Through the years I slowly bought my mods and a few months ago I switched from a local tuner to cobb. I made some logs and really don’t know how to look at them.
I’m currently driving an adjusted stage 2+ FMIC map. Adjustment made by the local tuner again.
The car is FBO on 98 RON.
Could someone please tell me if the attached log looks ok or not?

Thx

MRJCB

I can't open your logs at the moment but this is a good read if you haven't already.

thx!!!

I did read that but I guess reading logs isn't as easy for me, it's a little bit to technical for me.

All in all the map is aggressive for my taste. not in absolute value but aggressive for your car.

You are getting throttle closures due to boost overshoot. this is an easy fix and it not too bad anyway. (I would drop the WDGC table by 5% since you have 4 or 5 overshoots).

Looking at your timing drops tells me the map is aggressive, you are dropping timing on 4 cylinders then it recovers then it drops again.

Choices: drop boost, increase octane. To a 2nd order change plugs if not recently changed.

you are running also rich... It seems your tuner was trying to get rid of timing driops by running sub 12 AFRs.. this is DI for god's sake...

I would start by trying OTS stage2+ agg, and see how the car performs with that one. Log it and share

are you getting tuned with ATR? definetely a tad too aggressive . follow marv85 advice.

thx enrita for your opinion, it's always nice to have someone backup what's been said by someone else. Not that I didn't trust the opinion of marv85. No it's not ATR, just some local guy.

As for the WGDC, my tuner said it is a bit higher than typical. He did this becuase I was experiencing 30FF codes in 4th and 5th from the start with cobb ots stage2+ FMIC. Furtermore I cannot increase octane as I only have 98 RON available nearby. I do have E85 nearby. But to be honest I also want a solid map un just pump.

Is there any adaptation time when loading new maps? This log was made 20 minutes after loading the new map and I just did 7 3rd gear pulls and one 4th before this one.

Again thx for your opinions enrita and marv85.

Well the map is not yet finalized, so when it is I will share the name of the tuner. Don’t want to bad mouth anyone before a finalized product. I was just curious as we are near the final map. And I think the tuner is done with adjusting timing. The tuner is using my version of ATR.

I attached another log that was made 5 minutes before the 4th gear log.
Does that look better? It seems so as there are no timing corrections and just a little throttle closure.

thx

honestly i would keep the stock load target and work with timings instead and fix the tps closures. boost is pretty high down low. u sure he is using ATR ? boost cap is 18.5 psi on ATR.

thx enrita for your responses, also pm. Some sort of E mix is the next step!!!
But isn't it strange, I made 9 logs (all right after each other with a minute pause), that some logs look like the first I uploaded and some look like the second which looks fine?

thx

the DME needs time to adjust.

when I load the stage 0 map on my car, I get timing drop and boost overshoot in my first run. usually by the third the DME would have adapted

maybe your IATs were high so dme is backing timings.

thx but do not think that is it. the IAT's never went past 113 F. I believe that is when the DME starts pulling timing.

Again thx for al the advice and lets wait till the final product.

thx

Hi all,

Tuning is almost finalized. 3rd gear logs seem ok now but 4th gear seem to be a bit noisy. Can anybody explain that logs of 3rd and 4th can be so different?
I can post logs if somebody wants to take a look.

thx

Hi guys,

The pro tune is complete and just wanted to share the results (within VD)of the gains on just 98 RON versus the OTS map stage 2+ as I have not seen many of those. Real dyno numbers will follow. Also attached a few logs of 3rd and 4th gear.

MRJCB

PS: Comments on the logs are welcome!!!
