Good compliation of shift knobs, moderaters might want to make this a sticky for people to see what's out there. For those looking for the "Old" E46 Weighted shift knob. Make sure they actaully have it, they can't order it anymore as it will be superceded in the computer with the "New" E46 shift knob.

I don't get the fascination with the M-sport knob. Can't be much more functional than any of the other short knobs and it's kinda ugly, IMHO.
I guess people just love having the "M" on their non-M cars?

But more importantly, the M knob has a sporty feel to it and at least for me feels better when shifting. I guess I'm used to a "sportier" shift knob; Infiniti and Acura and Mustang being the last 3 manuals that I had. I'd be surprised if the true enthusiast likened the stock shifter more.

LMAO! I never felt comfortable using a ball-type shiftknob. Before the e90, all my knobs were either: the "Competition" or the "Super Anatomic" non wood version Danny

Hehe. Considering how expensive the ACS shift knob is...you would actually think that it could either tow boats...or maybe come with one! $350...bloody hell...I can think of other things to buy with that kinda money. |

HEY!, that a pic of my car with the Whalen Shift knob...when i used to have it,, problem was that the locking mechanism never had enough "bite" to stay in place during spirited shifting..... Msport shift knob is almost perfect IMO

Take a look here. Their listing of illuminated knobs seem similar between e36 and e46...so perhaps it will also work on the e90. I suppose you can e-mail them to ask... Hmmm...I wonder if anybody would care to make a heavy knob like the Whalen but with a rubberized plastic cover. That would be super comfortable and not subject to temperature changes. |

I ordered the matching walnut knob for mine from the BMW accessory catalog. It looks great with the terra and walnut interior. The stock one looks like cheap grey plastic to me... oh wait, it is! LOL...

I've purchased #4 - the old E46 leather, short, weighted, leather M knob. Had the chrome version before, but realized I wanted leather wrapped. ANyone interested in a chrome, short, weighted 6sp M shift knob?

hi spacedogg, u managed to put a e46 knob on your e90. this should mean that the e46 illuminated knob should fit the e90. when i look at the bare metal stick and the internal canal of the bmw knob, even the e36 and e90 knobs look identical.
i am going to get my hands on a e46 illuminated knob at my dealership and try it. i just love the night red glow on the knob. |
