New to the site, need some info
I sometimes work on cars at home to help friends and family.
Yesterday my ex gf son ask me if I can look at his car , it's a 07 335xi with p0140 and p0160 codes. It has catless downpipes. Cone filters. And intercooler upgrades and aftermarket bov I replaced both downstream sensors and still get p0140 and p0160 codes. I installed them carefully, and was wondering why would these codes come back after clearing them Also on oxygen sensors, they have these spacers on them, like 2 spacers per sensor How or what can I do or look for to get these codes cleared. I'm in so.california. He's gonna bring it back later and gonna see if maybe I installed them backwards or plug them incorrect Any info is appreciated |

Wouldn't these codes show up after the car has the Catalytics removed and downpipes put in if it hasn't been tuned for it?

Those are 02 sensor faults.
The 02 sensors are still going to be throwing faults if he's catless. |

That's right. His tune should hide the CEL, but the codes should still be visible when you scan the DME.

I may be misunderstanding what you're saying but, I've looked a little into passing emissions without cats and all you need is an o2 fouler, its just a tube with different sized orifices to restrict exhaust flow to the sensors mimicking a catalytic converter restricting the exhaust flow therfore telling the ecu it has cats. Could that be the spacer you're speaking of?
