thanks for the info, man. so to my understanding, push down and see where i can still shift, mark, measure 1/8” shorter than the mark, and thread? sorry about all the questions... would like to have everything right before doing it myself to prevent any mistakes, lol!

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but this really helped me a lot. I hated the auto knobs. Here's my result.
