Thanks Bob... a lot of the credit goes to you and the BPC team. Without you guys supporting this platform and potential mods like MILV’s this would never be possible.

I think you'd see more improvement from lighters wheels than you might think.

When I go from my 17x225 summer setup to my 15x195 winter setup on my other car (Golf TDI) it is very easy to feel that the car is significantly faster in a straight line, at the expense of handling in the twisties.

15" winter setup shown in the pic below.

What year is yours? I had 2003 TDI manual. That thing was a blast. Still miss it and regret selling it for so cheap. 800 miles on a single tank of fuel.

Really good stuff - that 101mph trap speed is quite impressive! Did you do testing with and without the scoops? Pre and post TB? Intake?

Really keeping an eye on this thread, I might hit the track today and give it a shot.

No I haven’t. I’m getting ready to box my stock TB up and send back for the core. I’m seeing what I wanted to see from the Big Bore so don’t feel the need for more testing.

I will do back to back tests on the intakes (AGE stage 2 vs Stock/Drop In K&N/Rev Tube) on Saturday since I’m changing it anyway and there isn’t any extra work there.

Then next week I’ll start digging into what I want to do with the stock exhaust. I don’t want your set up way too loud lol

Last will be wheels. Supposedly wheels are worth 6:1 to 8:1 as weight. So if I can save 5lbs per wheel is 20lbs x 7 = 140lbs. My car has about 10.5lbs/hp, so 140/10.5 = 13.3hp.

So 18lb wheels would be like adding 13.3hp I figure

Ohh, I forgot you were still stock exhaust and heavier wheels. The wheels won’t help immensely, but the 60-100 range acceleration should improve. The stock exhaust is pretty restrictive, 10-15whp for that alone

I don't want to get too off topic here, but shes a 2002 Golf TDI GLS, 5 speed, tuned, bigger injectors, bigger turbo, aftermarket clutch to hold the power. Still gets 55mpg. Also has 225k miles on it. I love it! Its pretty much my winter beater/hardware store/trailer car now, I daily my BMW.

Oh and it has 2-step launch control on it for back in my autocross days. Haven't done that for a while now though.

If you want to know any more, shoot me a PM, I dont want to derail this great thread!

The data from 'Dragy' is pretty cool.

If you did a pull from 30mph to 90mph in 3rd gear, that would be from about 2600rpm to 7400rpm.
That would be a good representation of a 'dyno' pull.
That would be a great way to compare different parts and power.

Time for every 10mph. And then compare before and after any part change.

Can 'Dragy' do distance or mph every 1 second? Kinda just 'flip' it around.
MPH every 1 second can be converted to acceleration/second and if know vehicle weight I believe it can calculate HP.

This is basically how a 'DynoJet' dyno works. How fast to accelerate a drum of known weight and knowing the mph and rpm, can calculate power.

I think this thread deserves a bump and a final breakdown of best shift points and times for both configurations.

When you have time of course.

I wonder what others think but IMO for N/A the limit is right about 260whp/300bhp. At this point I really don’t see a N52 ever doing more than that.

How you optimize that power (gearing/tires/weight reduction) and in what chassis (e8x or e9x) it lies will determine the ultimate speed.

My opinion is for an e9x chassis the fastest it can get N/A fully modded and chassis optimized is ~13.6x in the 1/4 mile at 102-103mph in IDEAL conditions and driving.

So what’s in this thread is not the limit because I know for sure my car is faster now than it was when I started this thread, and it’s approaching what I just wrote.

Mid 13's in an N/A 'chick car'? I'll take that.

I already gave my opinion on this this morning -
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...1447926&page=3

But the stock cams and intake manifold options are really what are limiting the N52, as things are now, 265whp is about the limit (that includes E85)

If you are looking for more power, optimizing the exhaust and a dyno tune would be the best places to look for more power, otherwise there isn’t much more unless we can find a way to get a viable options for cams and intake manifolds.

I’m still wanting to do a few HPDEs in the car, but I have to sort the suspension first.

No dyno. I’d like to get one but haven’t gotten around to it, I’m pretty confident the car is in the 255-260whp range though.

Finally found this thread lol I've been looking for it.

Ran my car at FixxFest a few weeks ago - did fantastic! R/t was shit but that's ok lol.

14.4 @ 97mph

Major key was spinning or hopping off the line - I made like 15 passes trying to experiment with launching but the low profile Michelins didn't hook.

Yeah, you have one of the most extensive mod lists. Would be really interesting to know what you're putting down.
