Just want to leave a feedback for Makkan00 as he did my CIC retrofit for my non I-drive E93, and it's absolutely brilliant! worth every penny!

Hi Makkan00,

Had it done last saturday(01.02.14). Sam is a fantastic guy, he started immediately at 8 am due to weather forecast. I left him with my car(E93 335i 2007)while i went to a friend. In afternoon he texted me 'car ready'. When I got there it was all done.
And what a transformation. He did a fabulous job.
He also installed the Alpina transmission flash on my car which is a must. in D its smooth as a baby bottom and in S it is so aggressive with much swifter gear change.
Sam: I'm thinking of having that internet thing fitted and I still looking for some mirrors (motorized). Have you found that guy who does the wrapping?

I had a car today where the owner wanted some work done. Owner had CIC retrofitted from somebody else. I do not want to name and shame.

Here are few photos of the work which was carried out on that car. I am not sure if its acceptable or not. Surely, not acceptable IMHO.

I am under the impression that owner paid £1400 for cic conversion.
And owner had to buy console for the cic controller.

I have a 2007 e92 with no i-drive with no screen etc. and no Bluetooth even,( though the sterring has a voice command button and telephone button.
the only reason i am buying the car is that it replaces my beloved 335d which was stolen which had everything on it and its driven 12000 miles !! since new.
my questions are
1) are you able to convert this into a i-drive and multiconnect media monster ?
2) if so what would it cost me.

hi there ,

im going to be doing a combox install on my e90 replacing the tcu.

just need a bit of advice regarding wiring......

so far ive learned iphone will play music just by using original apple cable and usb 6fl with out the aux.

is this album art aswell?

6nr is just another usb cable run from combox blue connector to arm rest usb (separate to 6fl usb).

does the audio l + R need to be run to the combox ? or is this done like the above via the usb socket? and I just need to run a cable from video out on the iphone cable to cic?

I might need a fsc for 6nr activation......does this mean ipod/iphone gui wont work without the fsc? how about iphone video?

might be easier to say what will be lost without 6nr fsc...

any help appreciated

I am a newbie here and have recently bought a 530d SE. Am interested in retrofitting the 6nr option in my 5 series manufactured in August 2010. It has the USB aux input via the y cable. I cannot connect my iphone via the white apple cable as it says device not supported. With y cable it can play the songs in iPhone but no album art. Also don't have BMW apps even thought I have BMW connected subscription. Am interested to know how much the overall cost would work out to.
I have seen a lot of you doing excellent work. Would be extremely happy to know.

Does the CIC + COMBOX solution with latest maps software display Google Maps style (not TMC derived) traffic data? I.e. Does it change the colour of the roads depending on the speed of movement of traffic? I'm thinking as the COMBOX can tether to a phone, internet data can flow to the map program in real time but does the map program take it into account or does it continue to rely on TMC?

Sam upgraded my non-idrive E90 yesterday to a full CIC system he started at 10am and 5 hours later all completed, Sam is a great guy and did a fantastic job, anybody thinking of doing this upgrade should contact Sam.

You will need combox for that.
Also you need to make sure that your CIC is compatible with 6NR (firmware should be at certain level).
The only way to find out is to read the files of your car.

Thank you for the reply! The car papers don't say clearly. Am sure it does not have combox but has the professional satnav and BMW online which was not used by the previous owner. How do I get the firmware updated? Also is it alright posting in the 3series forum? Thanks again.

I just want to post briefly here to say that Sam fitted my CIC with combox and coded everything. I am 100% happy with the upgrade and work he did.
