It still bothers me to spend so much money on a "sport" sedan and have to throw even more money into it to actually make it act like one. I plan on taking a "few" trips around the Nurburgring next spring/summer (I only live about 40 minutes away from it!) but I would like to do something about the suspension first. Have any of you guys heard of AC Schnitzer? Its the German version of Dinan, I wonder if they make a suspension for the XI's. I am asuming they don't, I havent seen to many Germans riding around with Xi BMW's, (there are plenty of Audi's though, seems like they have taken over the roads from BMW the past few years out here). I will ask when I go and pick up the new ride on Dec 15th.
To answer the first bold part - not necessarily. I drove a 328i loaner w/sports package and the suspension was really good - surprising, since i have a 335xi w/KW V1 coilovers. Its not just a difference in springs/shocks for the XI vs. I suspension geometry. There are alot more things to take into consideration.

I think that a decent sway bar up front should change my mind on that, but I havent done it yet.

AC Schnitzer, Dinan, and Hamann -- they are good, and were popular in the past, but as time has gone by and newer products and technology have come out, i think that people have come to the conclusion that those brands are OVERPRICED and you can get better items elsewhere.

Audi Quattro is WAY different than BMW X drive. If I were going AWD again, I would go Quattro.

Can anyone tell me the different between kw v1 &v3 and how they feel on the road?
thinking to change it for my E92 335xi but don't know which one to choose
thanks
KW V1 - no adjustability, just ride height can be raised or lowered

KW V2 - rebound, ride height

KW V3 - Rebound, Compression, Ride Height

V2 is not available for xi models, but V1 and V3 are! I would go with V1 unless you are doing competitive motorsports w/the car (autox /track days/etc)

Im looking to keep my ride height about the same but looking for a more sportier ride with the least amount of drop due to using my car as a DD and snow. Any suggestions on suspension components (coilovers, springs, shocks) with the least amount of drop?

Even though coils are adjustable, they still give you a drop at their highest settings. I went with kw v1 and have plenty of room for snow and want to go ever lower!

kw v1 for $1300 shipped is the best solution, since its height adjustable and really improves the handling.

Im sure they fit. Try in the for sale section because some of the vendors are selling them or ask tischer for a part number.

How about the Eibach Sportline? The list shows both H&R Sport and Race, yet only the Pro-Kit for Eibach. I'm definitely not thinking of getting coilovers to avoid any noises from any of those, not H&R due to the rake look and stiffness.
From the picture researches I have made, it looks like the "i" with the Eibach Pro-Kit drops the car a little lower than on the "xi" by the appearance even with the struts replaced as well. Just wonder if there are other components on the "xi" that causes the car to be higher than the "i"?
Please advise.

Its just the springs that make the xi higher. If the spring fits on the i, then I will assume it fits on the xi. If its not on the list it might just be because I haven't seen anybody with that particular mod yet. That doesnt mean it wont work.

The springs are interchangeable. Its the struts/shocks that are not.

The part #s were found somewhere in this forum, for E92 XDrive:
Eibach Pro Kit springs - part #2092.140 (this # is for "i" application)
Bilstein Struts/Shocks - part #VE3-E247, #VE3-E248 and 2x #BE5-C042 (these #s are for "xi" application)

Just to confirm, if the Eibach Pro Kit said to give up 1.0" Front and 0.8" Rear, so does that mean the "xi" should have the drop of:
Front: Springs 1.0" + height diff. from non-sport 1.2" = 2.2" total drop
Rear: Springs 0.8" + height diff. from non-sport 1.2" = 2.0" total drop

after if the math is correct....

This is of interest to me as well...logic states that would be correct however. I'm about to order the same parts for my car too.

Perhaps someone with the Eibach springs can take a quick measurement of center cap to fender? I did read somewhere on this board that the sport i to the Xi is not 1.2" lower and that it is more like .7". I think the guy who posted that did an informal measurement between his sport i and his wife's Xi. Suffice to say he was shocked the difference wasn't greater.

That is OK with me, I'm not looking for a slammed car any way, I'm looking to tame the lame X drive suspension but I do wish that Koni had adjustables for our cars. Any way I'm away for 2 weeks in Feb and when I pick the car up the Power Kit and the Bilstein / Eibachs will be installed. Should be a nice change and will really sort it out and will be awesome to drive after being in a Pontiac G6.
