Has anyone tried cleaning there MAF, if so did it improve??

Got virtually the same problem. Bought the car in September and was averaging 43mpg serviced it maybe October/November and mpg nose dived to 30.4mpg. Haven't checked temperature but a 25% drop in mpg seems excessive to me for a bit of cold weather. Reset the counter on long journeys but still hasn't gone above 40mpg on the motorway. Very disappointed my 1.9cdti signum never dropped below 44mpg regardless of anything.

ordered myself a can of MAF cleaner and the MAF looks easy enough to remove so going to give it a clean at the weekend when the cleaner arrives and will report back, the airfilter was filthy when it was serviced so fingers crossed it should return the MPG
