Sorry if this has been answered before, I had a search and couldn’t find a lot of info, has anyone recently had any experience with these? Looking to get my car remapped, I’m in Bristol if anyone has any recommendations.

Avon Tuning did mine 4 years ago. Couldn't fault them.

I know someone who had one from them and seem decent. I had my custom stage 3 done by glen at gbw, now gkr performance in oswestry. He is very good, custom tunes to your car (think that key from personal experience over years of remapping cars), has a rolling road now and can be found on fb. He will check your car is fully healthy before pushing it as far as you want.

I did my M57 325d with a bluefin map from superchips. Gives 250 bhp and 520nm of torque. Really changed the car for the better.

Can't remember hearing many bad things about Celtic. What are their claims for power increase.

BW Chiptune inn Hayes get pretty decent reviews.

Celtic claim 266bhp and 383 ftlbs torque but I’ve read elsewhere since that people haven’t got half that, I’ve booked for Avon tuning to do it tomorrow.

Give BEVOTUNING a shout if you're in the south west. Phenomenal what he's doing at the moment. He's on FB or IG. Very active on IG.

Read bad things (in various frequency/severity) about all the tuners mentioned so far, except BW chiptune. Actually, I've not read anything about Avon tuning yet... Anyhow I'd go with BW, personally. They can work remotely if needed too.

Thanks for all the advice, turns out the car was already mapped (a poor quality map apparently) Avon tuning have remapped it and it definitely feels much better, a lot smoother and the power delivery is better.

nearly every dodgy tuner says this pal,,its usually when they get a car on dyno,,reads around 255 bhp,,they say oh,,its got a shit map on it,,when in fact its the dyno over reading etc,,,so when you get tuned results,they are way over also,,but even the generic fuckers lke avon do it also,,they can also steal your original bmw stock map,,replacing it and keeping stock one for future etc

Clearly you know nothing about tuning cars and think you are clever running your mouth off, disrespecting people who do genuine work. I sat with glen going through fuel / torque mapping and trust me he knows more than a whole host of mappers out there i have used in past. Considers AFR (if you even know what that is) and matches boxes to maps and provides free advice on what needs improving to deliver more. He fitted and coded in a 6hp28 box from a 335d with uprated tc, so yes clearly a cowboy.

He is running 400+bhp from a compact 2.0d with twin turbo set up. BMW tuning for fun!

If you dont have substance other than your opinion or what you have 'read' then keep your posts to yourself and stop influencing others. This is what they do to earn money, pay bills and feed families.

Oh and my 'taxi' is running 425hp / 850nm from a 330d.... with real world driving factored in, not just glory figures.

Honestly can't remember now...pretty sure it was on e90post though.

I agree BWchiptune and Ecotune have good reps but doesnt mean they are the only decent tuners out there for BMWs.

My point is, if you have first hand experience then by all means comment but if not then you are hurting their reputations without just cause. If you check gbw reviews they are all excellent on trustpilot and facebook. Its a competitive industry and there a plenty who try and make false claims and belittle other tuners.
The only reason that he isnt on forums anymore is due to false claims, people trying to extract his methods and intellectual property. Spending hours trying to justify what he does....

When i came to tune mine i got in touch with jason at BW but had a 3-4 week waiting list and was only doing it part time.
Other tuners wanted mine for upto a week to tune.
SLT who mapped it previously didnt do a good job of it (all or nothing, not progressive).
Glen did mine in a long single day, customised my tune and is always willing to help or give advice. He doesnt charge silly amounts and is a pure motorhead, so got my vote and was impressed with his knowledge and approach.
At the time another tuner (who uses his custom stage mapping) came to see him for 2/3 days and told me he learnt more refining techniques from him then any other tuner he has met in the few years he has being doing it... says it all.

Mmm... read your posts and mine, i think anyone with a decent education can see who is informed and who isnt. As i said, wheres the evidence u speak off....? Give me FACTS not immature replies. Please 'fill me in' on my lack of knowledge and these other 'respected tuners'.

Might i also add that gbw had the fastest 1/4 at bmw show@ santa pod with 335d on stock turbos.... clearly knows jack shit... as u put it. Attached are my numbers.... FACT.

Mine was starting to fail and cost me approx £450...exchange.

Summary:

With a 2 year parts and labour return to base warranty this re-manufactured unit is better than new condition, with the advantage of a new Kevlar friction ring which significantly increases lifespan.

There is an even better one being sold stateside for around 1500USD... sold by sulphintuning.com

I'm not going to get into the my mapper is better than yours argument but you might want to reconsider the phrase above and edit the term "motorhead" for "petrolhead" or similar.

In certain social classes and areas of the country a "motorhead" is a colloquial term for a drug dealer!

cannot see any images,,and yeh ive bbeen working,gathering knowledge with 3 great tuners,,been doing it on odd days off,,,,i will write up what ive learned and still learning,,top tuners are still learning,,and also the shit dodgy tuners still learning although badly
