I have the aFe Stage 2SI, no issues ever, especially running the oiled filter. I like the sound and a slight uptick in MPG and throttle response. Does it make more HP? Probably on the high end of the RPM range.

I put the aFe SI enclosed intake on first and enjoyed slightly better throttle response and a very nice sound. But an AA tune and/or 3 stage manifold is significantly more bang for the buck.

I would keep a close out on ebay.de for a used euro box. I snagged mine for $75 with a bit of looking. The convenience of filter changes over stock was more than worth it, and I think it makes the engine bay look much nicer too.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the Info.

Basically what i'm taking from this is that the AFE intake should provide better power gains then the Euro box.

So essentially i'm going to pick myself up a new intake most probably a AFE Stage 2 pro dry S and then i'll get the AA tune done.

Thanks guys!

save your hard earned dollars and get the tune. the bmw intake is decent enough. get a drop in K&N.
Seriously though, that AA tune is what you need.
also if you have a SULEV engine (n51) you have a 3 stage intake manifold already.

quick question, if you get the AA tune along with the software changer, and other mods such as an exhaust or intake, does it tune the engine to all those things and give a bit more power?

Expand on that.

Are you saying does the tune self adapt to modifications done afterwards like intake and exhaust?

Or are you saying just in general, can you tune for other modifications done besides the headers?

The adaptations in the DME are limited, tunes can't "self adapt" to mods.

How much range of adjustment does the DME have if the tune is set up for headers and the exhaust is changed from a street exhaust to a straight pipe race exhaust? Or does the change in backpressure not matter that much?

You want to retune vanos for headers. The DME can't adapt for that.

From what i've read online now that I found out the AA tune exists, it that you're better off to do the tune AFTER you've finished getting all your bolt on parts done.
