Finding OEM BMW Leather for Project

I am taking on a sort of DIY project and I need some OEM Red Coral leather... would it be cheaper to try to find a sheet of it (I don't need too much), or just buy a headrest or something and take the leather off? Headrests look to be around 250 or so from what I gathered quickly, but can't seem to find a place just to buy a sheet. I need a piece about the size of 2ft x 2ft or whatever an average sheet comes in. Thanks a lot if you have any links.

Steering wheel actually... I'm sure I'm not the first... but never seen it on here.. I'll be wrapping the two unperforated leather parts with the Coral Red Dakota to match the rest of my interior. I thought it would add just enough red to the cockpit area without getting too insane.. I don't have Photoshop anymore, but maybe I can find a new way to "photoshop" to see how it looks...

sounds interesting. a bit too much red for my taste, though. i'd love if the trim piece on the steering wheel was leather. i'd also like to wrap my center trim part (where the shifter and idrive knob is) in leather, but i can't think of a feasible way to do this. leather seems like it would be too thick.

The trim piece for the steering wheel is available in leather (black and grey).

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E9...cover_leather/ This link is for an E92 but it is also available for an E90.

About $130 from Tischer.

Thanks, but not what I am looking for. I am just trying to find a sheet a Coral Red Leather for my own project, not pre made stuff. Thanks though.

I worked for an Automotive Custom Interior shop while in college - any good interior shop should be able to get you leather with grain that matches and in correct factory color. You would need to take car down and have them match your leather to what is available in their book.

Course no leather color is ever gonna be exact - coloring varies from dye lot to dye lot even when original.

When cars are brought into the dealer for interior work - they farm this work out to local interior shops - this includes damage to leather where new matching leather needs to be used.

Not gonna be cheap - last time I had any knowledge of price (back in the 80's) - leather was 0.25 cents/sq in - so you would be looking for a piece costing at least $144, and I'm quite sure the price has gone up in the last 20 years
