Oil Cooler Thermostat - OE Replacement?

Does anyone know if it's possible to buy just a replacement thermostat for the N54 oil cooler?

Realoem gives me the part number "11427573212" which is for the oil filter housing and thermostat so I'm assuming I just have to buy both and ditch the housing.

I want to retain the functionality of the stock thermostat and have no interest in the bypass option from BMS.

That's the problem, I can't find the OE thermostat, only the complete housing unit including the thermostat. If that's all that's available then I'll just buy the full OE housing.

I don't have any problems with my oil getting too hot ever. UK summer temps rarely get above 25c and the cooler can keep up with that. My oil thermostat is currently stuck open which is basically how the BMS "thermostat" works. The problem with the always open approach is that anywhere outside of CA or FL you will end up with the oil being too cold and taking an age to warm up during winter.

you need to buy the whole OEM thermostat housing. the internals are not for sale.

the small cap to access inside also leaks so not a bad idea to replace the whole unit.

OP, you seem to be confusing the thermostat housing and oil filter housing. The part number above is the thermostat housing and thermostat. The filter housing is separate.

So when the oil thermostat is bypassed, how much cooler are the oil temps?
